Doug Large - Writer/Photographer
I have pretty much been into anything automotive since I can remember. I grew up with my father owning a gas station/detail shop so I was always helping him out doing whatever I could do. I remember he hired a kid that had a customized Mazda pickup truck and I always liked it. Years later I started helping my Dad detail cars on weekends and after school. I got my first truck when I was 15 and customized it to the extent that I could. I really didn’t know much about the scene, or customizing for that matter. I remember going to the store and buying Scrape magazine and Mini Truckin and reading through the pages thinking that I would one day like to own a ride like that.

Years later I got my first chance to learn how to work on a car when I approached a body shop about fixing my car, which I had gotten into an accident with. I talked with the owners and I pretty much started working there a week later. I learned a lot of things while working there including one of my favorites, which is painting. I bought my Civic before I had the job and always wanted a custom ride so I began customizing it slowly with whatever time and money I could. When it seemed like I got so far on it, something would happen that would take me ten steps back. It was like a never-ending battle with that car, and it still is. I got the car almost to completion this year and every day I look at it I have to say it amazes me to know that I built the car from knowing nothing, to learning a lot and knowing something.

Photography has always been in my family. I picked up my first 35mm camera when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I got my first digital camera and started shooting shows and rides when I was 15. I came across Street Source and talked with Garrick for a few years before I shot my first feature for SSM. I had submitted a few shows to him that I covered and always asked for a chance to shoot features. I remember my first features like it were yesterday. There is something about photography and taking pictures that makes me feel like I am a part of something more than just being involved in the scene. Through taking pictures I was able to open my own company, which has taught me a lot and given me a great deal of respect for photography in general (www.freshphotographyonline.com). To see the look on some peoples faces when you ask them to feature there ride is priceless, knowing that you just told them that all the hard work that they put into there ride has not only paid off for them but has given it such a touch that we want to run it in our magazine. I look forward to many more years of show coverage and badass features and hope that everybody enjoys my work.

Kevin and Christina McCanlies – Writers/Photographers Duo
Kevin and Christina McCanlies work for Street Source Magazine as a photographer/writer team working with the new ISSM magazine. Kevin and Christina have been in the scene since the early 90s and actually met in one of their first car clubs. They are currently working on finishing Kevin's 96 Accord Woody Wagon and looking forward to starting this winter on Christina's 62 Falcon Wagon. They try to hit most of the Import and Truck shows in Texas and surrounded states. Feel free to drop them a line on SSM or introduce yourself at your next event.

Zak Ropple - Writer/Photographer
Zak Ropple, 25 years old, born and raised in San Diego, CA. I've been in and around the scene for about 7-8 years. I have been shooting for SSM for about 2 years now and I enjoy shooting some of the baddest rides the West have to offer. If you see me at a show, don't be hesitant to say what’s up. This is a lifestyle, and friendships are what drive it. Be respectful to other scenes/customs and expect the same amount of respect back. -peace.

Chas Nichols - Writer/Photographer
Chas is a photographer/writer for streetsourcemag.com from mesquite texas which is a suburb of dallas, he shoots most all the shows in the midwest. He has been interested the minitruck/truckin seen since about 93 but has only been involved since 1997 and when he's not at shows he plays around with his bodydropped fullsize chevy and his motorcyle........He didnt go to any special school for journalist or photogrphy he just had to get out there and learn it by doing it and redoing and redoing it again..
