The 10th Annual Midwest Truck and Car Nationals was held at Masterson Station Park in Lexington Kentucky on June 16 and 17th, 2001. The weather in Lexington was HOT and Sunny, except for a brief rain shower on Friday night during the road trip to Lexington! It was in the 100's all weekend and felt more like the desert than the Midwest. Even with the scorching temperatures, many of the Midwest's finestcustoms were in attendance. Our weekend began with an uneventful road trip to Lexington on Friday night. Once in Lexington, we met up with the other Midwest chapters of Negative Camber in attendance. We made a quick check-in at the hotel, our home away from home, then it was off to the local Hooter's for some food, yeah right! Mind you most normal people would have already been in bed, but who ever said mini truckers were a normal bunch of people. After enjoying the food we were in desperate need of a few hours of sleep, because Saturday would come way to early. We awoke bright and early Saturday morning, grabbed some food, hit the car wash and then off to the show. We were greeted at the registration trailer by the professional staff of Special Events that made registration a breeze. Masterson Station Park is a great place to hold a show, it was as if they designed the park just for car shows. The park has a large paved road that circles the grounds and it made for metal draggin' the pavement all weekend. The only downfall of the park is it is located several miles from the motels, food, and shopping. The event was open to all makes, models and years of custom trucks, SUV's, and sport compacts. Like many of the Midwest shows, drive-thru judging was used at the event to allow the participants to get judged when they felt there vehicle was ready. Latest Craze from Indianapolis, IN did the judging of all the vehicles for the weekend. They have been around the sport for years and are the founders of one of the Midwest's biggest shows the Indy Truck Bash, so they are no strangers to custom trucks, SUV's, and sport compacts. Some of the other events at the show included a burnout contest, a Hydraulics Contest, and Performance Marketplace.

Late in the afternoon, the grounds began to empty as the club's raced back to the hotel's to let the nighttime festivities begin. The Negative Camber crew ended up at one of Lexington's fine eating establishments, for some good times. One of the funniest moments of the evening was when one of our members tried to pick up our waiters girlfriend who was a waitress at the same restaurant. Another good story was when one of our other members was cruising in the wee-hours of the morning and ended up at a burger joint only to see one of the Village People in full costume. Sunday came to early for most of us after two nights of very little or no sleep, but off to the show to relax, catch a quick nap and say good-bye to friends. Once all the votes were counted and special awards were determined, the awards ceremony was started, putting a close to some memories that will never be forgotten.
