Just a year ago I was sitting on the edge of my seat on an airplane waiting for it to land in sunny California, for what was in front of me was a long memorable weekend that I would never forget! But times fly, just the other day I found myself loading a truck up on a trailer to head west! that's right a year later I gave up the comfy airplane seat for the back seat of Ronnie's truck.
I was so excited to get on the road, I was finally taking my truck to the west coast for a show. Not the biggest show but a show. How many people that live for this sport can say they have shown cross country? I know a lot of people that have flew here or flew there like I have, but that's not the same as getting on the open road and traveling 24 hours to hang out with the people that you love!
New years day we get started in our journey and after 12 hours of driving we encounter our first problem, a blown trailer tire. We stayed over night in Las Cruces New Mexico and as soon as I woke up I was out the door heading to Wal-Mart to get a new tire. Once I was at Wal-Mart I realized that I needed 3 tires instead of one, if we planned on making it to California and home safely.
3 hours later we were back on the road and 12 later we were pulling into Barstow California were I unloaded my truck and headed off to the show while Ronnie and his girlfriend stayed at their hotel. I was in my truck driving the short 15 minute drive that ended up into a 45 drive because if you miss the exit in the desert your gonna be driving a while to right your wrong doing.
Finally I had arrived at Resolutions '04 and like the year before I was warmly welcomed then searched for weapons and such. Reso is one of my favorite shows for several reasons. 1 hanging out with all the people I only get to see once a year 2. Bob Hase and his group of misfits keep everyone in check! Nothing goes on at this show unless they want it too! 3. The show itself is very organized from parking to judging to trophies everything runs smoothly. 4. camping is always fun, especially when you have a huge group of motor homes to party in 5. Hanging out with all my friends I only get to see once a year.
So the truck was checked for drugs and weapons and I was on my way over to the motor home I would call home for the weekend. Upon arrival I was greeted by my girls that always take care of me on the west coast , Amanda and Nicole. These girls are awesome I cant even begin to describe how much they mean to a lot of people in the scene. Without them we wouldn't have the famous Vegas Jello Shots or a women's opinion of what vehicles look good or just a girl to talk to. Thanks Girls for all you do.
Along with the girls the motor home was filled with Severed Ties members from Phoenix, Utah and Forest from Vegas was drinking a few cold ones waiting for roll in. About 4 am I was ready to crash out but thanks to J (another Vegas freak) I stayed up till it was time to roll in to the show which was 6am. So with no sleep and cold weather it was time to dust off a truck that had dirt on it from 4 states. My buzz was fading and my eye lids where sagging it was time for me to hit the hay at approximately 10am.
3 o'clock in the afternoon rolls around and it was time for me to wake up and go shoot the show for this wonderful magazine. So I yank my shoes on and head out for the show about ΒΌ mile away. As I am walking around the show snapping pics I have to realize that California has a lot of nice ride even though it is winter time. Shortly after I finished shooting the show I headed off across the parking lot with my truck to have it show for Street Trucks magazine.
Saturday night was a lot of hanging out with the guys/gals of the west coast and watching girls dance around on stage. Another highlight of Saturday night was Jeff from Devious Customs showing up to grace us with his presence after the show was already over for the day. After freezing for a few hours and breathing in a ton of camp fire smoke it was time for me to crash. I know I know it sounds to early for me to go to bed but I bitched out and ended up crashing about midnight.
The good thing about crashing early is that I can wake up early and take pictures of rides I missed and laugh at those that got their tent zippers zip tide together by Big Timmy and Forest. Unlike any other show I go to the awards presentation at Reso is at 9 in the morning appose to 5 in the evening. the awards where given out quickly and for the 5th time in a row Severed Ties won club participation, congrats ST!
With the show over everyone headed out. This years Reso was one that I will never forget. If anyone ever has the chance to make this show, take it, I guarantee you will have as much fun as I did. I would like to thank all the guys of Sunset Truckers, Bob Hase, Forest , J, Amanda, Nicole, Alex and Jodi, Ronnie and Sunshine , Bo-Bo, and last but not least Tito. Until next time Drag Hard and Break Something!!!
