What challenge inspires a fabricator to build the awesome creations you see in magazines or keeps you going to the next level? What challenges do you want to overcome to get where you want to be? P Events had a challenge on October. Texas Ski Ranch called P Events and asked the un-thinkable, “Can you put a show together in three weeks?” After several calls to past sponsors from Meltdown, it became apparent that we could fund this. John Salas with Vertically Challenged said, “hell yeah we can do it”, and so started the life for the 2nd show of the year by P Events.
Dry:Off held on October 15/16 at the Texas Ski Ranch in New Braunfels TX offered relief to show goers who had plans changed due to recent hurricanes. The idea was similar to Meltdown where by we would mix wakeboarding, music, sik rides and hot chicks.
Friday night P Events and Mini Truck Mayhem greeted draggers for an impromptu light show lead by Rob Carnagey and Steven Rodriguez with his hairy Hombre. Saturday morning brought the herds of vehicles waiting to get in the grounds to the tune of a warning by your local DPS trooper to speed up the process. VC worked hard and fast to make sure everyone got the spot they were comfortable with.
Noon came around and Tension Speak, the official band of P Events, slammed hard hitting tunes. As a standard event P Events had a tattoo showoff that attracted some of the lovelies from SA Nightlife to bear their goodies. Ricky from MtM gets credit for inspiring the lovelies. The night brought the best of both evils bikini contest and drag session. Texas Ski Ranch sponsored the bikini contest to help spread the outbreak of blue balls. Soon after that an unofficial drag session was held where lights and cameras were flickering with die hard draggers lighting up the night. This was despite local police concerns on the extra electricity that was being generated that night. The end of the night brought on partying at the local Budget Inn where by Jamal with Showtime Customs brought new meaning to Hooters and bearing the truth.
Sunday brought new magazine cover rides and a new event became a staple in our company. Shopping carts that had been chopped by Outlaw Motorsports were used to create a human road race. Clubs raced around a course in dragging carts and exchanged blows at crossing points of the track. Xtreme cart racing will take a new spot of events for the upcoming Meltdown show in 06.
Trophies were handed at 2:45 pm just a bit earlier than the 3:00 pm that was promised. Over 80 trophies were given out with the BOS trophy built by Outlaw Motorsports going to one of the Holly Boy’s from Houston with his dragging Sporttrac. Jon Henson took away the under construction masterpiece by John Salas.
Special recognition was given to Nay for helping Allen Huizar, a cancer victim, who could not make it to Dry:Off. Allen has recently lost his battle to cancer and P Events has made it a policy to have a free entry for Allen at all P Events shows for his determination to participate in our life style.
Dry:Off was a challenge that allowed us to see how organized we were as a company and what type of relationships we had in the scene. I want to personally thank all the show entrants and the great friends that supported our shows this past year.
Thank you,
JP
