Well it seems like only yesterday Kris and I decided to start up this badass magazine that all of you have come to enjoy. Well, this is our 6-month anniversary and it is hard to believe but we continue to grow leaps and bounds. We would like to thank all of you for showing your support, we really appreciate it. A HUGE thanks goes out to Bobby for continuing to bring us Features and Show Coverage. We have also come to grab a few individuals that have helped us month in month out that we are also very grateful for. Brandi and Russell keep up the kick ass columns, and Russell we wish you the best with your recovery brother! You know we are here for you if anything is needed! Another thanks goes out to Chas, Kevin Whipps, and Jeff for Their constant contributions. I know the whole club issue is talked about month in month out in almost every magazine out there. I’m also aware of many conversations about clubs needing to get along. I totally agree with all of this. We are all in this together, and with out coming together the next generations may fold and the sport could possibly die off. Well I’m going to take a different twist to this conversation. This whole outlook was inspired by a few questions asked of me by a young lady by the name of Kirsten who is writing an school paper on this very subject. This really got me thinking…. It could affect myself and anyone else out there that depends on the scene in order to survive. Whether it is work related or just your hobby, with out it many would be lost on what to do with their spear time. I believe we need to concentrate on the image of the club scene to bring along the next generation in order to continue building kick ass projects. I think that the majority of today’s clubs have a very positive effect on today’s youth. Whether it is a club of racers or show goers, it keeps the younger generation thinking of what else to do with their rides rather then being out looking for trouble. A lot of today's youth would rather learn how to work on their engine or how to work on the body of their ride in order to bring attention to their accomplishments. But with every positive there is a negative. Some of today's youth get involved with the wrong clubs that give off negativity and gives every other club out there a bad rap. But Overall I would say the positive out number the negative by 8 to 1.

Of course with being apart of a club the younger members are always going to look up to the older ones. This is where we show them the ropes, right? I believe so. It falls down to a saying that I just thought of, yet makes so much sense to myself. “Be a teacher with the young lad’s life and point out the direction away from harms way, not the student observing the devastation of a young life.” Now I’m one for having fun so don’t take me wrong, but don’t let them get carried away with fun. I’ve partied enough to know my limitations but the young ones have yet to get tired of the sick feeling in the morning. One night he/she may pass out on the way home and get hurt or hurt another. Like it or not, they are our responsibility to a point. Like I said before, they look up to us and want us to think of them as an equal. In order for this to happen, they think that they should do what we do. Be in control, take the keys or drive them home. Us oldies have better judgment in these moments. Well I’d hope so anyway. I guess what I am saying is that we don’t want the fun we have now to die. Just thinking back on things leads me to believe we need to look out for the next generation. Okay… I’ve lectured enough about looking out for others, so I’ll end it with this. The club scene is a very positive thing. With out clubs, the sport wouldn't be able to survive because the desire to be better wouldn't be as great. With clubs you get a group of individuals that bring an added feature to everyone else in the group. They all come together to help one another build their rides to become what they were striving for in the end. Now, could you imagine what rides would look like if we took all of this to more then individuals within a club helping one another, and rather, took it to clubs helping clubs? The rides would be awe-inspiring! I think my brother Russell Gulow said it best……. Scrape the hate! Till next month……Show respect to gain respect. Garrick ArendsEditor
