I'm 27 years old, I have a son that's 4 who I won't be able to do things with even after my surgery. Yeah I can do some things but there are limits, running or jumping could cause my fake hip to pop out of place which would require going to the hospital, being put to sleep, and having the doctors popping it back in, I forgot the pain that would be involved. I'm not asking for your pity, far from it. I am asking that we as a society try to be nicer to each other. Like Nopi this weekend, I saw some people staring at me so I tried to introduce myself and be nice, beyond shaking my hand they acted like I didn't exist. It's kind of the feeling you get when you have to use the motorized chair at Wal-Mart and you can feel people looking at you like, "He doesn't need that." I've said it before. There are plenty of things that WE have no control over in life, but things like how we treat people, who our friends are, and how we try to affect the people we come in contact with, we do. The next time you see someone with a handicap don't pity him or her, help them if they need it. Most of the time people just want to be treated like they are human and that they count. I guess; as our trip together comes to an end this month, remember a few things. Everybody just wants to be treated like they count, a little kindness won't kill you, and don't judge people to harshly. Maybe I'm judging some of the people I came in contact with this weekend too harsh, but those people whom I'm referring to not only stared at me like I was a freak, but then acted like they were uninterested when I tried to stick my hand out to introduce myself. If you got comments or stories you'd like to share, you can email me. Let's get back to like it was in the day when people went to shows and no matter the logo on the vehicle EVERYONE was cool with each other. Scrape the hate.Russell World Famous. ITFELL007@aol.com
