Seems like this year I am hitting a ton of shows that are first timers for me. Well Slamfest would have to be one of the best to date. Not only was it my first trip to Florida, I would meet a ton of people that were just hella cool and friendships I'm sure will last a lifetime. As I arrived into Florida after the 6 ½ hours of flights, I would meet up with Ronnie from Phlat Out DVD magazine and Fagnet (err… I mean Magnet) of NC. With the luggage stored in the room we were off to Hooters for some grub. While at Hooters we would run into a large number of Acrophobia members who we would end up kickin' it with pretty much all weekend long. Talk about a killer group of guys and gals. With the girls getting buck wild and the Hooters employee's asking us to leave (yes that is correct, women got us all kicked out of Hooters…haha) it was time to hit the hotel scene. Before heading to Red Roof where they would all be crashing, we hit a few other hotels to see what was up. With stops by the NC guys (Scooby, Duck and others) we headed back to Acro where we would get our drink on and chill for the night. As morning arrived Ronny and I decided to eat at the hotel where the meals would be as expensive as if we were eating a badass steak dinner. All meals aside, we headed to the event to start getting coverage. Now through out our time in Florida Ronny and I were bound and determined to find us an Alligator. But with gators even in the ponds at the show grounds we found no such luck. With a golf cart in our possession we were off to gather coverage and to run into friends we've either just talked to online or haven't seen in some time. With the gossip out of the way it would take us the entire day while on a golf cart to grab as much coverage as possible with still some needing to be done the next day. Yes, the show was that big, I believe there was over 1600 rides or something along those lines. There was plenty to do at the show as well, Sunday they had many club events, a killer Bikini contest and they had a civic on air displaying its hopping power over and over. People were driving the grounds day in day out dragging at will with nobody stopping them. It was truly a Minitruckers dream.

I had a blast in my first adventure to Slamfest and Florida, and I hope to be returning for years to come. If you've never been to Slamfest I suggest you take time off of your busy schedule to make it out for at least one, you won't regret it one bit! I'd like to give a special thanks to the crew from Mini Madness for throwing one hell of a weekend show.By Garrick Arends
