St. Thomas, USVI show
Once again I had the privilege to head out to the Virgin Islands to explore and check out a killer show weekend. Unlike last year, this time everyone would fly into St. Croix for a few days of island fun before heading over to St. Thomas for the shows. LIKE last year my luggage was lost on the way there so I was at the islands for day one with no cloths. With my arrival onto the island Carlos would pick me up and take me to where everyone was hanging out drinking some good ol’ island drinks! We’d chill for the night before heading to bed to get an early start on the next day.
With the first night in the books we’d decide to get some grub, drinks and head off to this small island and do some snorkeling. This was my first snorkeling experience but a fun one at that! We say cool colorful fish and played peek-a-boo with a huge stingray. All in all a great experience! We’d head back to the hotel and just in time for my luggage to finally be dropped off. So we’d all get cleaned up and get ready to have a few more drinks and grub before meeting up with some more of the inland group. With a few drinks in us we’d all agree to do a big snorkeling group the next day off of a 3-½ mile coral reef.
Once we all were awake and ready to go we’d meet up with the group doing the snorkeling expedition. Once to the island the reef was off of we’d swim out exploring what the islands had in store for us. The reef’s where amazing with a ton of fish. Although we didn’t see any sharks or sea turtles we are told that on the other side of the reefs they are there. We couldn’t reach that area due to some choppy waters. Oh well there is always next time! With the tour over we’d drink down some beers on the boat ride back. That night we’d decide to walk around town meeting up with some of the local bums (crazy mofos! Lol) and hit up a couple clubs. It was a great experience and I can’t wait to hit up St. Croix again. The water was warm, the hospitality was warm and the nightlife was killer.
Friday would bring a day of travel as we’d fly puddle jumpers over to St. Thomas, get our hotels lined up and get the rides out of the containers and to the show grounds. After a long day of setting things up we’d have a few drinks, dinner and head back to the hotel for some R & R.
With Saturday morning upon us we’d manage to get ready and head to the show location to gather a few rides to take to the stereo part of the show. After dropping the vehicles off most would go off on there own but I was to stay and cover the Stereo show to get some coverage and check things out. One thing that I noticed off the bat was a large stereo scene with very clean installs. With the show ending with a sound off competition the crowds would begin to file out of the stadium and head out to the nightlife for some good fun before continuing the show Sunday.
As Sunday arrived we would head to the show and begin checking out the rides as they filed back into the arena. With Island time starting later then what we were used to we were able to sleep off some of the alcohol. When all show entries where set up and clean I began my coverage of the rides and some of the island girls walking around for all you horny guys out there. They had plenty going on to keep the show goers entertained all day long.
Overall for a small community of auto enthusiasts they managed to pull in a huge amount of spectators to go along with the registered vehicles. I was surprised to see the intense competition amongst car/truck owners once again and the following of the scene on such little islands. They are talking about making this show a tour through a few islands so be sure to check back to see coverage as we gather it and if you ever have the opportunity to make it to one of the shows on the islands I’d hit it up as the locals are friendly, down to earth and great to party with.
I would like to thank Troy for once again ensuring things were lined up for me to go out along with Alvin for handling the arrangements. Also a special thanks to Tony and Rodney for actually making the way for me to the show.
