Throughout the years, countless numbers of show-stopping customs have been built, claiming fame and glory through their best-of-show trophies and their magazine coverage. Unfortunately, the lifespan of many of these trucks is short-lived, often being sold to people who have no idea of what they really have or just allowing them to be ruined through misuse or a lack of care. Some are recycled into new customs, being rebuilt several times over until they are either retired or sent to an uncertain fate under a new owner. But sometimes, a lucky few are maintained and treasured, kept in heated garages and covered to protect their beautiful paint jobs and enjoyed for the works of art that they are. After initially being built back in 2000 by Down-N-Dirty Customs in New Jersey and featured in Minitruckin’ magazine, this 2000 Toyota 4Runner, dubbed the “LowRunner,” was rebuilt again in 2001 with the addition of the graphics and some new bodywork. After being sold in 2004, the truck spent much of its time in limbo, wandering from owner to owner and even spending time in a used car lot. However, after appearing on eBay, Bill Churchill purchased the truck with the intent of showing and maintaining the truck’s show quality, which amazingly remained intact despite being passed around for several years. Yet despite Churchill’s best intentions, his dreams for the truck were not to be after discovering that his wife had developed cancer.
