Livewire
Ok I know what you are going to say already before you even get started! Why has there not been a "LiveWire" article in the past several issues of SSM? Well there is really no good excuse as to why I haven't written the article, but I will try to explain their absence so here it goes. I recently packed all my belongings and moved from the greatest place I know of in America, which is South-East Louisiana to a city that I had never been to and knew absolutely nobody, the home of Elvis and the Blues good old Memphis, Tennessee. Why you ask? That's a question that I'm still asking myself daily. Truly there is no good answer either. I was offered a job here and at the time that is were my life was leading me, and with that in mind I went for the move and so here I am. I left behind a lot of good friends and worst of all a place to work on my newly aquired project, a 6" body dropped soon to be small blocked Ford Ranger which is in a million and one pieces back in Louisiana. I have made some incredible friends though since I've been here in Memphis and I really appreciate them going out of there way to make Memphis feel like my home away from home. My friends, family and Ranger are only 5 hours away and so it's not really that bad. I just make allot of trips home to pass the time away. Since I was starting a new job I had to really pour a lot of time into it and was not able to put the needed time into the LiveWire articles and I appologize to everyone for there absence. So with that out of the way here is "LiveWire"
This years IASCA finals were a big success and the event was the biggest in the organizations history. Charlotte, NC was the host of this years event and from all reports it went off without a hitch. Look for gears to be shifting for the planning of a Spring Break Nationals that will make all other SBN's hail in comparision. Last year there was over 100 vendors and exhibitors on hand and more are expected this year. Paul and the crew have set the date for March 21-23, 2003 so mark your calendars now for this awesome event.
This month is a real busy month in the world of Car Audio, with USACi finals right around the corner on November 23-24th in Kansas City, MO and only 8 events left till finals. The finals this year are set to be the "Biggest Ever" for USACi.
MECA will be holding their invitation only Final Booming Bash in Shepardsville, KY on November 9th and 10th. MECA since it's conception 5 years ago has grown leaps and bounds.
Whitlee will be holding their finals December 28th and 29th in Perry, GA you can look for full coverage of this event in an upcoming issue of SSM. After talking to the founder and president Howard Foster about this year's finals, he told me to be prepared for a great finals event with a lot of things that will make this a truly one of the best they have done.
SEMA is right around the corner also. SEMA is held in Las Vegas, Nevada for those that might not have ever heard of it (I doubt anyone hasn't heard of it but anyway) SEMA is an event that is unbelievable because it holds all of what you will be seeing tomorrow. Manufactures come to SEMA to debut all there latest and greatest inventions trends and ideas.
November is a great month for the custom world and if you can't find something to do then you are one boring individual. I know for November and December these are generally months that everybody spends tearing their rides back apart and start the rebuilding process for next years show season. In the next couple upcoming Livewire articles look for some killer install tech tips that will help get the 2003 season off to a great start. We are going to cover some of the newest trends in Car Audio and what it takes to accomplish them. Look for some manufacture tech articles along with some product reviews. I'm hoping that LiveWire will not run into anymore snags and that I will be able to deliver it to you each and every month.
Until next month,
Ben Husser

I would like to dedicate this issue of LiveWire to a life long friend Gary Dale Erwin of Franklinton, LA he was taken on Oct. 4th, 2002 in an auto accident near his home. He will be deeply missed by all.
