Howard knew that he wanted his Focus to be able to compete with the host of imports on the streets of Georgia, so to do that he needed to rework the factory engine for a few extra ponies. First, Howard replaced many of the factory internal engine components that could fail under high RPM's. Crowler rods replaced the factories as well as JE Pistons. The factory cam was also tossed in the dumpster and replaced with a Web camshaft. Esslinger underdrive pulleys can also be found in the place of factory originals.

While inside the engine, Howard decided to port and polish the head. Add in the 150-shot Direct Port NOS system, Ford Motorsports intake manifold and AEM intake, and you have a car that can definitely hold it's own. To manage all of the new power, Howard also installed a Diablo Sport Chip. A 2 ½" Borla cat-back exhaust allows the unwanted fumes to leave the Focus much faster than stock. With his car now pushing 300+ horsepower, Howard opted to give the outside appearance of his Focus a major makeover. Howard knew that he wanted to incorporate the race-style with the minitruck style, so with that thought racing through his brain, Howard began the long process of massaging the outer shell. Getting the ball rolling, a Wings West Avenger kit was installed and a fiberglass Cobra R hood replaced the factory, which was tossed to the side. The door handles were shaved as well as the gas filler door, which was moved to the rear hatch location. The side moldings, emblems and rear hatch were also shaved.
