The Industry Player
In every day life you will find things you are wanting or feel you are deserving of without actually thinking about what the situation it is involving. You will ask people to do things for you because you think that you are above all others. You will demand action of something that if thought about, you would realize that these demands were not going to happen. Those of you like this I refer to as morons, incompetent thinkers, or just plain ol' idiots. Soooo, sense I'm writing about this I hope none of you reading it are this way, and maybe you'll get a chuckle out of what I have to say, or just totally agree with me and feel my pain.
There are always 2 approaches to decide the fate of your decisions in life. You can be patient and enjoy what is coming to you, or you can demand immediate action and then find yourself at the back of the pack waiting even longer because the person you complained to can't stand ignorance. Now there is a time to complain, and that would be a time when an item or service was paid for and not fulfilled in a timely matter. God knows that we've all been through this on either end at least one time in life.
Now it's obvious that most people out there would like to see their ride in a magazine. Why? Well not only to show all of your accomplishments but to also have a name in the scene. You want to be someone that people envied and wanted to meet. The magazine was your stepping stone to being the popular kid in school so to speak. This rule also applies to every day life. You want to be the one walking to the stage picking up your "Best of" awards or first place trophy. You wanted people to be able to lean over to their buddy and say "so that's who drives that phat ass truck!" But when you do nothing but whine and complain people find themselves pointing at you with laughter or just saying "can you believe that idiot?". Word of advice, chill out! Life isn't only about you. For example, I had a person email me wanting a free subscription because we had a show picture in one of our issues. When I explained he could purchase a subscription and view it, he became outraged and demanded I remove his photo. Now does this make sense to anyone else? These people should be taken out to an open field and… well you know, help society clean up a little.
I like to think of these types of reactions as "bullshit" thinking. People that think this way have nothing but attitudes. Why would you want to hang around someone who bitched and moaned about this or that all the time? Personally I like giving these people a hard time. Poke fun at them and let them realize how dumb they are acting. "Cheer up buck-a-roo!! Get that beast in the shop and go gettem' next time!" That usually ticks them off but everyone else gets a laugh.
So before you press send in an email complaining about this or that or before picking up the phone, think about the situation and for your sake lets hope you realize that it is not the best request and that you would rather have patients and not be the subject line to a joke.
