World of Wheels - Chicago
Once again, Carquest held their World of Wheels show at McCormick Place here in Chicago. For some it’s become an annual tradition to bring out their custom rides, and for others it’s their first chance of the year to debut their new project car. Spectators of this event are treated to a wide array of entertainment. Several celebrities, including Vern Troyer (Mini-me), William “The Refrigerator” Perry, Chad Lindberg (Jesse from F&F), and many more, are on hand to sign autographs and have their photos taken with you.
Import Tuner magazine sent out Natash Yi & Cherie Roberts (yum!) to grace the show with their presence. Even though this show tends to be a conglomeration of old factory restored classics and old school custom hot rods, to the lastest new hotness in the import scene has also been making their mark at this show for the past few years. Team GMCI was out in full force with their team display set up like a used car lot. Also, a new team, Gator Customs, made their debut with several hot cars.
This show is also host to numerous vendors trying to make a buck by showing of their new lines of products. You can usually talk these guys into a good deal, as they want to leave there empty handed. Mirror Look Refinishing was on hand showing of their custom painted motorcycles including one with a Spiderman theme that you have to see in person to appreciate the quality of work that went into it. Autorama tours the country throwing these shows in most major cities across the country, so check out www.autorama.com to find out if there is going to be a World of Wheels event near you.
