This year the Chupacabras moved there local Rod show to Denton Texas for everyone who wanted to show off a true hot rod. The guys always amaze me with what contraption they can scrounge to get a car four wheels, an engine, and MAYBE a driver’s seat to get it down the road. We started off the day running late, that is my new hobby I have since I am now a family man with a gorgeous soon to be two year old and a beautiful wife. Well once we got to the show we helped Cindy aka Crash set up her art booth with all her awesome tikis, skulls and anything else she could get her paint brush on. Once everyone was setup we ran into some old friends and hung out, kicked back and watched everyone roll in for the festivities. WHY can’t a minitruck show start at NOON, doesn’t that make since to you drunks?Well noon rolled around and everyone was talking, drinking and having a good ole time. They didn’t have to waste time shining or cleaning, these cars have character, who cares if there is a little grass on the carpet or some bird stuff on the window, all adds to the flavor. I had my eye on some art work of Cindy’s all day and just had to have a piece Hamilton had painted for the show, but how was I going to pay for all of it, change in the penny jar of course. $67.00 dollars in change later I had a few pieces of Cindy and a piece from Hamilton; I was set to add to my room of useless clutter. If you’re looking for that unusual piece of art, need that final flame pinstriped, or just want to check out some AWESOME rides you have to go to one of these shows. Until next show, remember what this sport is all about and keep having fun.By Kevin McCanlies
