The birth of a new Magazine
The birth of a new Magazine
Imagine yourself and one of your friends chillin' in the living room reading through your favorite magazine, while the other is channel surfing like no other cause there is nothing on the satellite once again even though you have like 3 million channels. Okay, now that you have that image (which would only be a good one if it was maybe Skinemax or I mean Cinemax which was on TV) and the basis of conversation was as usual, the mag in your hand. Now imagine once again that you tell your friend that you feel the 2 of you could do as good if not better if given the opportunity. By now most of you are thinking, “Now that would be bad ass, but there is a lot to know in order to make it a success!” Well, needless to say that is what myself and Kris Bloom thought when the conversation arouse about a month and a half ago.
One evening being the screw-off that I am, I looked at Kris and told him, “You know, it would be bad ass to have our own mag!” And of course he would agree, after all it is what we all dream of doing. After a moment of silence (I think we were both day dreaming about how bad ass it would be, money, fame, beer, money…) Kris looks at me and is like “We could always do one on-line?!”, after all, that is what Kris does so of course that would be his first thought. At that point in time it was just a thought so it was left at that.
Well about a week later, once again nothing on the satellite and that same mag you’ve read like 10 times now. The conversation of starting a mag came about once again. And you all probably know who brought it up. That’s right, I was bored. I tend to dream of the “impossible” when bored. This time we went deep into the subject working out details of how we would lay it out and sharing ideas. My first thought was that it was to good to be true! But then knowing Kris and watching him work on websites and what not, I knew that with time we could make it a success.
Okay, it’s Tuesday and about 3 weeks till West Coast, I have the day off. Around noon I get a call from Kris, he wants me to come down to his work so we can go register the mag, to make everything legit. I was like…okay! We had our first “Business” meeting right after. We were well on our way to our very own mag. By now you are all probably wondering what the point of this Editorial is, well, actually I’m not sure? Haha, no actually it is to kind of tell you how this magazine came about and to inform you of what you can expect from us in the future.
The future for us holds endless possibilities! While being on-line we don’t have to worry about paper cost so we are NOT limited to how much coverage we have in any given section. In this particular issue, we have 6 features, over 350 show coverage pics (and that is only one show!), tech articles and other miscellaneous articles that are informative and interesting to read. Now considering that we basically threw our ideas together about 3 weeks before West Coast, this issue isn’t even going to compare to the information and show coverage that will be in upcoming issues. We plan on having this just like a real magazine, but more. What does that mean to you? That means that you’ll be getting feature vehicles, show coverage, tech articles, new product information, advertising, event calendar, editorials, construction zone, readers rides, and much much more! You can plan on every event that we cover having more pictures up then the competitor! After each event we cover, the show will be in the very next issue, not 3 or 4 months down the road. All our feature vehicles will hit the magazine before the other guys can get them out (unless they featured them in the past of course). Also we will be covering not only minis and compacts, but also SUV’s, vans, full-size trucks, full-size cars, wagons, and 4x4's. We are open to any suggestions from our readers that will help make this a success.
