La Paz County park-What a drive! I believe we left Idaho at right around 11:30-midnight. The cops decided to pull us over in just about every small town that we drove through! I guess they didn't like the fact that a caravan of 12 rides where rolling through “there” town late at night. We try and make the trip as fun as possible, not going to say how cause I don't want to give anyone the impression that we are careless with our driving while passing people on the shoulder and driving with our lights off (just kidding). West Coast is just a nap away! Once we enter Vegas at about 8am, it's already warmer then all year up in Potatoville. At about this point everyone is starting to get excited to get to the run. While on the highway, we can catch a glimpse of the registration line to get into the run between hills, and I'm gladly surprised to see a few more phat ass rides sitting outside the gates then during last year. This is where my crew splits up. Half of us go to the pre-reg line and the other half go to the hotel down the road. Me myself having been here many times before and now having to be in the right mind for the magazine decided this year it was time to foot the bill for a hotel and air conditioning. Not only that, but I needed a nice place to pass out and sober up for the next day of excitement! Day one, most never see this day, this is for the die hards. That would make it Thursday. The day before everyone and their dog shows up. Walking through the registration line I start to notice some new rides, old rides and good friends. This is going to be a good weekend. Well as some of us are getting ready for the weekend and preparing for our first show coverage attempt, our other counter parts were busy putting up there tents and getting ready to unload the boat into the water. Needless to say that by the time camp was set everyone was pretty much in drink mode and the partying had already begun with out me. That night would be the typical T&A, beer, cruising and fun. But the best is yet to come. Well, it's now Friday morning about 9am and our friends are at our back door in the canal with the boat. Half of them are either still drunk or already, can't tell. But for me it's off to work. At about this time a few others and myself are walking the park checking things out. Damn there is a lot of rides that came in through out the night and morning.

There is a lot of activity on the riverfront, T&A are every where, cruising has the road packed, and once again people just having fun. It's pushing noon now, and the sun is pushing my white ass to red, should have listened to the ol' lady and put sun screen on! Oh well, as is life. As we venture to the registration line we see that the line is once again long and there are a few trailers out there which usually means something good. As night falls, I think the temperature didn't. It's still warm and everyone in the park is in full tilt party mode! At this point the cruise is getting so out of control that at one point they had it all one way to try and settle things down. I think the attempt failed, about an hour later it was right back at full go! Then at the main stage there was your normal dance crowd with the 12 guys holding mag lights on the 2 chicks grooving on each other. Always a crowd favorite. By the time I get back to the camp, I find only a couple people up. Half are passed out and the other half are out looking for action. What kind of action I'm not sure but where ever it is I'm sure they'll find it. Show day! Damn it's nice out. Not way hot, but hot enough to wish for a little breeze to blow through. After getting a bite to eat and heading into Parker to get more discs for the cameras, it was time to hit the park. And while pulling into the park what do we see, Vendors? I'm surprised and actually glad to see that Vendors surround the show! I think this is good for the sport. After all if it wasn't for these companies not all of us would be able to fix our rides to be as phat as they are. While cruising the show, I'm pleased to see tons of rides! There seems to be more compacts this year then years in the past. Never the less the show looks to have a strong turn out and definitely more then last years. There are tons of mini's as usual, along with compacts, van's, SUV's, full-size's and 4x4's! However a very nice mixture at that. As we move on to the night, after scrambling to get some photo shoots done before the sun goes down, it was now time to hang with my friends and do a little partying! Little did anyone know, the main part of the cruise moved to the back part of the park cause security has shut down the waterfront. This is cool for us cause now everyone is passing right by us. It's now time to line up the lawn chairs and start bugging all that pass. The night is usually when the T&A is a little bit more on the sharing side. There was even something about a ball hitch? Haha…but that is another story for another day.
