EQUUS Products Introduces new Import code reader----------------------------------------------------· Works on most 1983 to 1995 Imports, including those popular with "tuners"· Safely accesses on-board computer; identifies what caused "Check Engine" light to illuminateFOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. - Equus Products, Inc., a leading automotive aftermarket manufacturer, introduces the INNOVA® 3173 Import Code Reader. This two-piece kit includes the tools needed to access diagnostic trouble codes for most OBD I Asian imports, including Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Acura, Lexus and Infiniti vehicles manufactured from 1983 through 1995. It also includes an easy-to-read manual with instructions and code definitions in English, French and Spanish to help quickly determine what triggered the "check engine" light to illuminate. The suggested retail price of the kit is under $30.00. "We are dedicated to continued improvement of our code reader line, and to meeting the needs of our customers and end users," said Richard Amador, Equus Products' marketing director. "We extended coverage of our import code reader through 1995 because these makes and model encompass a large percentage of the vehicles that are popular with today's performance enthusiasts. Many basic performance upgrades such as an injector revision can cause the 'check engine light' to illuminate, and 'home tuners' need a way to diagnose the cause before making repairs." In response to U.S. government mandates, manufacturers were required to include self-diagnostic programs on vehicles to identify emissions-related faults. This was accomplished with On-Board Diagnostics, which has been on most vehicles since 1981. The first generation, called OBD I, was designed to monitor various systems such as fuel injection, ignition and emissions systems, and illuminate the MIL ("Check Engine" light) if a problem is detected.
