Pre-ShowfestWell with my arrival into Jackson, MS for my very first Showfest I had already hit the liquor with my 12 hours of flying and was ready to get on the gettin’. With flying on one of my layovers through Memphis I was POSITIVE my luggage would be lost as it always is flying through there. And to my surprise…. Yep it was lost. With Ben laughing hysterically we were off to his place to wait on Phatty and a few others. Upon their arrival I had to borrow some of Phatty’s clothes so we could go to some of the local clubs. Arriving at our first location to check out, Ben managed to get into it with the front bouncer and we were booted off the property so we then proceeded to the next stop, the Dock. This would turn out to be nothing more then a pit stop for a drink and then we headed to yet another location. Tip, if ever in Jackson, MS don’t plan on Thursday nights being the hippest place for clubbin’, haha. Arriving at our night’s final destination would turn out to be where the fun would begin. With the drinks going down and the dance floor movin’ we some how managed to get into it with a group of people. Some say I would be the instigator but I disagree… haha With the bouncers insisting we take it outside we all slowly head out and sit on the park bench. To make a long story short, one of the dudes persisted to taunt Phatty so I made sure to be right there in Phatty’s ear (hit him Phatty, hit him), next thing you know… blam… Funny shit if you ask me… Then the dumb ass decided to continue to run his mouth. So with a little bit of work on the 3 bouncers I convinced them to allow Phatty to finish his job. Oooh… them were the good times. Sorry for the novel of night one, I’ll get to the subject at hand, SHOWFEST!The Show!I’ve always heard that there is more complete bad ass rides at Showfest then any other show in our scene but I never expected it to have as many phat rides as there was. With this being my first Showfest it would leave a lasting impression on how a show should be ran and attended.

With rain in the forecast and falling at night, the party still moved on. As we rolled into town late Friday night after driving through down pours we were impressed to see everyone still outside having a blast even with the rain falling. We quickly checked into our room and began our journey with alcohol in hand. Along the way we would run into a TON of people that we talk to daily on SSM. Shortly after 6am with my bottle of Captain down and out we headed back to get a few hours of sleep before the show.As we arrived to the show Saturday we could see the quality of the rides from the road. After parking we quickly formed a plan of attack and began covering the event. With the tons of people we stopped and talked to we managed to only cover the show and would have to wait till Sunday to do features. Some of the notable rides would be the Escalade laid out on 26’s by Ekstensive, Brian Brubaker’s Taco, Eric from B.A.D.’s old school fullsize, Matt’s Envoy and the shit load of RA, ST and NC rides through out not to mention the corner crammed full of Kontraditions and Eksessiv. As we left the show and headed back to the hotel, the plan was to rest up and shower but needless to say we were a little late due to the insane amount of traffic of EVERYONE and their dog leaving to head to the strip. As we changed up our threads and headed out the dragging was already in full force along with the girls hangin’ out their tits. The night would stay pretty consistent with the partying, which made things a blast. As Saturday night closed out and Sunday arrived we headed back to the show to line up features and say our good bys to old and new friends. I’d say that this is by far one of the best shows out there and with the quality of rides from all corners of the states and even the Virgin Islands it’d be safe to say this event will be around for years to come. And to all of those out there that I had a chance to talk to and hang out, you all made my experience of Showfest a great one, even those that persisted on arguing about this that or the other… hahaPhotos by - Garrick Arends and Ben HusserText by - Garrick Arends
