Traxion Import Show
Traxion Import Show
There is nothing like the first show of the season to come as a slap in the face that sleeping in on the weekends is over. Staying up all night before a show, fixing (or is it rigging) this or that, or cleaning the dust from last year’s run is all the fun of what we do. So what if by the end of the day we reach the point of wandering around like a bunch of zombies? We will take our trophies home to stay up all night celebrating and talking about the next show to come and how this is the good life.
Of course when a show with one of the largest cash purses comes to Dallas it turns the heat up just a little more. It brings out that greedy twinkle in our eye and gets rid of our excuses that we will roll out next time. The Traxion Import Show made its leg from Houston to Dallas to stop at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie on April 10. One of the first shows to have a drifting course, timed auto cross course offering a racing school scholarship to its winner, a model pavilion, a huge car show, and a main stage that featured local and national djs all rolled into one huge package.
However, the only way a show can be a success in Texas in the month of April is if everyone has packed a suitcase for summer, winter and rain. And as Traxion boasted their anthem of “rain or shine,” we saw it all. The day quickly went from a sunny spring day to a drizzling winter day stuck in shorts, but the parking lot continued to overflow with entrants and spectators alike. Fortunately for most of us unprepared we found ourselves huddled in sponsor tents like Alpine, MBQuart, Circuit City, Dub, and Rockford Fosgate. Who knew we would learn so much about their products in such a short time?
For once there is now a show that brings so much to the table for its entrants, spectators, and vendors. This is definitely one show worth the effort and time – who doesn’t want a shot at $3000 for best of or just to end the night with someone like Busta Rhymes? The Traxion tour is making its way across the states to throw down against some of the other big name import shows and is definitely making waves.
