CruiseFest
CruiseFest
This was the first year I had ever attended Cruisefest in Dayton, Ohio. I had always heard it was not only a good show, but a wild one at that. I was not disappointed on either account.
The weekend started out pretty bad. An early morning storm made me think it was going to be a bad weekend, but after getting into Ohio, things started looking better. That was, until road construction put me even further behind schedule.
After finally getting through the road construction (which consisted of six guys watching and one guy working) we finally made it to the show. The Montgomery County Fairgrounds were packed with vendors and rides and thousands of people. It was going to be a good weekend.
As I watched roll in, I could tell this show was going to have every type of vehicle anyone could ever want to see - minitrucks, lowriders, compact cars, even rods. Some of the finest east coast rides were cruising around the fairgrounds. But the rides were starting to take a backseat to the real show in Dayton, the women!
Ok, I've been to a lot of shows in my day. I've been around this great world of ours and have seen things that I couldn't imagine topping off. But I didn't expect to see as much T&A as I did in Dayton. Everytime I turned out, someone was showing their pups! Now, I'm not usually one to complain about something like this, but DAMN! Anyway, the girls put on a good show for us guys, and of course we all appreciate that.
Getting back to the show, Dayton had all the same cool contests we all have grown to love attending these events. The hydraulics contest brought out all the heavy hitters and wowed the crowd, as they usually do. There was also a burnout contest and even a flamethrowing contest by some of the street rodders. Now moving on to the "good" contest....
The bikini contest was definitely the highlight of any of the events over the weekend. Not only was there a saturday bikini contest but a sunday bikini contest as well. I'm not going to go into details, but I can say if you decide to attend Dayton, make sure you check out this contest. You won't be disappointed.
Dayton is definitely one of the wildest shows on the east coast, but don't let that overlook the fact that some nice rides will also catch your attention. Make sure if you haven't attended Cruisefest to add it to your plans for 2001. You won't be disappointed.
