Back in September of 1996, Mike Rash bought a brand new Chevy S-10 extra-cab truck. His new truck started out as many do, a daily driver with a few little modifications thrown in here and there. Mike was no exception. After lowering his new S-10 a few inches and throwing on some 16" wheels, something wasn't happening. He wasn't winning shows. That is when Mike decided things needed to change.

It all started when Mike took his S-10 to Brad Magnus for some suspension tweaking. Magnus of Yadkinville, NC created a new monster notch in the rear of Mike's truck to give it more travel. Magnus also installed a Cool Cars two-pump hydraulic kit consisting of 10" chrome Red's cylinders in the rear end and 8" chrome cylinders in the front. The system was powered by 4 deep cycle marine batteries. To smooth things out, Monroe gas shocks were installed. Now laying frame, Mike took his S-10 to a few more shows. He had a low-down stance, but still wasn't turning heads like he desired. That's when things took a big change for Mike and his S-10. After contacting Jody Hall, Mike decided his truck needed to make the journey to Pikeville, KY. Hall and the Drop Shop are notorious on the east coast for turning out some incredible rides and incredible work. That's exactly what Mike was striving for. Hall started out by body dropping the S-10 3 1/4 inches. To make everything fit, Hall tubbed the firewall on both sides, moved the clutch master cylinder up and out of the way six inches and reconstructed the notch in the rear end. Replacing the factory leaf springs, Hall used a Pete & Jake's chrome triangulated 4-link. He also removed the heat and air conditioning to allow for the body drop, as well as replace the factory ABS brakes with units from an '86 S-10. Hall then relocated the computer from under the hood to it's new home, behind the dash. After everything was said and done, Mike's S-10 was exactly how he wanted it - laying body.
