The California Truck Jamboree is one of my favorite one-day events year in and year out. Over the past few years the spring event has managed to get bigger and bigger, and this years was true to form. Being one of the biggest California Truck Jam's I've ever seen with the grounds packed full of the best rides in the scene to enjoy. My weekend started with a flight into LAX were Marko from Kontraditions would be kind enough to drive out of his way and pick me up. Once to the final destination, we would hang out at Balistic Motorsports where we would get a few photo shoots lined up to occupy my time before Sundays event. Hanging out with the guys from Kontradictions would be one of pure excitement. After being drug to the clubs "The Sharks Club" I had a chance to hang out and have a few drinks with some of the Kontraditions crew. After showing Darron a new shot it was time to head out so we could get up early to redo his stereo in the Cougar for the Sunday event. Come Saturday morning Darron woke me up early and we headed down to Modern Image in Huntington Beach. While there, Robert was nice enough to take his show winning Eclipse spyder for a drive to do a photo shoot. After the shoot it was back to Laguna Nigel to work on what was thought to be an easy install. After many different attempts of creating a kick ass stereo in Darron's car, the conclusion was to give it a quick fix all since it was approaching 2am and we were meeting the rest of the club at 4am to gather everyone to roll into the show together.

With a much needed hour nap, it was time to head out. To much of my surprise we pulled into the parking lot across from Cal Jam and there were already 20 or so rides waiting. By the time we had left to the show I believe the count was around 35 rides from Kontradictions. That was good club participation in my mind. A few red bulls later and it was starting to get light out so I pulled a couple of rides out of the registration line in order to do photo shoots. Next thing I knew it was time to enter the show. While everyone was setting up, this would give me an opportunity to walk around and see what the show had to offer. Well at 8am there was already more rides in the gates then last years event and more in the registration line. I knew it was going to be a good day.Since sleep was what I was really lacking, much of the show was a blur. There were tons of vender's there sporting new products and vehicles such as Boyd Coddington, MIC etc. I had a chance to chat with many people that I hadn't seen in awhile and met many more.If you've never been to a California Truck Jamboree I suggest you give it a look-see. The summer Jam will be held August 12th in Costa Mesa, California.Garrick Arends
