Godfather Customs
On my way back through from a vacation in Florida, I stopped in Atlanta, Georgia to meet up with my Xtreme Lowz/Georgia friends to head over to Conyers, Georgia for the Godfather's Show on May 11th. Howard and his boys showed me a good time in Atlanta on Friday, then the next day we awoke at the crack of dawn (which is 11am for me) and headed over to the show.
Upon arriving, the first thing that I noticed was how packed the grounds were for this one-day event. I could tell right away that the quality of the vehicles was high as we rolled in. After helping the XL crew get their rides parked and setup, I grabbed my camera and began walking around and checking out the show.
I quickly saw many people that I recognized including Big Steve from Severed Ties in Georgia, who always seems to put a smile on my face with his light-hearted antics. Shortly after running into Big Steve, I ran into another familiar ST face, Kent from Texas. After catching up on old times and checking out his pimp S10, I headed over to the Godfather's booth and talked to my buddy Drew. He showed me a few new products and I was on my way to snap more photos and hang out with the crowd.
Colorado Custom had their rig on hand, displaying their enormous supply of billet wheels and steering wheels, ranging in every size imaginable. Also on hand was the crew from APC as well as many other vendors, all looking to display their latest and greatest custom accessories.
The amount of quality rides was spectacular, with vehicles showing from all the well-known clubs such as Negative Camber, Acrophobia, Relaxed Atmosphere, Severed Ties and Subculture. Brian Beatty took home the gold with his badder-than-bad convertible Toyota, complete with outrageous graphics and fiberglass interior. Other stand out rides included Bill Carlton and his bagged, laid-out C5 Corvette with matching motorcycle trailer that was fully bagged and could lay frame.
After everything was said and done and all of the judging completed, Hal from Godfather's presented the trophies and sent everyone home, most with smiles, and another Godfather's show was in the books.
If you haven't attended this event, you should plan on adding it to your list next year, as this show seems to get bigger and better every year. Hal and his crew from Godfathers host an excellent event each year. Make plans to be there in 2003, as Street Source Magazine will.
