Texas Showdown
Texas Showdown
When given the opportunity to hit up Houston for Texas Showdown who was I to turn down the endless possibilities of a great time. With the bags packed and at the airport by 6am the weekend would begin with the first drink on the plane. As I arrived into Houston and making my way outside to meet up with Mitch from Ekstensive I would realize that humidity is NOT my friend. We would arrive at Ekstensive so Mitch could finish up a few things at work and also giving me a chance to say what’s up to the crew. Mark would start in on the potato jokes early but I would swear to get the last laugh.
As we left the shop and pursued on a mission to make it to Mitch’s house to get cleaned up we would run into a little mishap. The car would die in the middle of a torrential down pour. Funny shit, specially when I’m steering from the passenger side while Mitch is outside in the rain giving us a little push to make it over the hill and on the down hill slop. After his wife rescued us it was time to get cleaned up and ready to go to Red River (aka the biggest HICK bar of all time).
Normally I would boycott such a lame ass idea (of Marks) but with 50 cent drinks who was I to complain? As we arrived we would find a few of the guys already TORE UP so it would only be fair to double fist beers till we were at their level or at least to help tune out the horrid music. As the night came to an end we would walk outside (about 20-25 minitruckers) only to watch 3 different hick fights just on the way to the truck. Oh good times, who would of ever thought that the hicks would be beating each other up instead of picking fights with us tattooed and low-ridin’ folk? Lol
As Saturday arrived and Paco picked me up, I would come to find out what Houston humidity truly was. As we arrived to the show I would be presently surprised that the number or rides in attendance was good and the way they show was ran was great. The only complaint I had was the DJ guy that ran the bikini contest, do us all a favor and don’t use him next year please!! Haha As I walked the show I would run into a lot of friends I hadn’t seen in some time.
In between the conversations there were plenty of phat rides to check out, music to listen to and hot women in skimpy clothes to check out. After getting all the coverage I could (went threw 3 sets of batteries… haha) we would pack up during awards and head out. If you’ve never been to Texas Showdown I would suggest checking it out next year as it’s a great one day event. Hell maybe next year they will hear the word on the street that everyone would like to see it as a 2 day event. That’s got my vote.
I’d like to thank the crew Darryl for bringing me out and the crew from the show for putting on a great show. I would also like to thank Mitch, Mark, Ballpark, Frank, Paco, Grasshopper and others for showing me a good time and hauling my ass around for the weekend.
