Explicit Concepts is a club known for throwing wild parties and great shows, well SIAO 2K4 hosted by the Memphis Chapter of EC, was no exception to this rule. EC invited me and my partner in crime Chad to cover the show, a couple days before the show I came down extremely ill and wasn’t sure until the last minute if I was going to even be able to attend. But with Chad’s persistence and a good bottle of medicine we were off for the 3-hour drive to Memphis. We arrived Friday night to the host hotel to the greetings of heavy down pours. We quickly called my good friend Rachel to come get us so we could enjoy some adult beverages. After leaving the hotel Rachel’s clutch decided to be no more. So with her driving and me power shifting from the back seats we dared the Memphis FLOODED streets with Rachel thinking her Prelude was a boat instead of a car. But thru all this we made it to a hole in the wall corner establishment to shoot a few games of pool before pouring ourselves in a cab and returning to the hotel. Saturday morning with the threat of more rain, Chad and myself headed to the show to get some coverage before Mother Nature flushed the toilet on us again. After arriving we were quickly greeted by a club we have both come to know so well. With Chad passing out Showfest fliers and me snapping coverage we made our way around the show. It wasn’t long until my feeling bad had caught up with me and it was time to hit the road and get back to the house were I could nurse myself back to health. I later talked to Ian one of the chapter members and of course in true EC fashion 3 bands took the stage Saturday night for an all out party. EC throws an incredible show and their dedication was shown in every aspect of the show.
