Brandon McDonald grew up around customized vehicles. In 1980, his father bought a ’38 Chevy and began customizing it. Having grown up around this, Brandon decided about 6 years ago to follow in the same footsteps and build something of his own. Brandon knew he wanted his ride to be a little different, and $25,000 later, he has accomplished just that. Starting with a 1994 GMC Sonoma extended cab pickup, Brandon quickly began the modifications. First things first, the suspension had to be set at a level that would be pleasing to the eye. Up front, Brandon installed Bell Tech drop spindles and a set of Firestone airbags. In the rear, the main leaf spring was removed and another pair of Firestone airbags were installed. A custom chrome notch was put in place for added travel. Keeping it smooth was a must, so Brandon installed Gabriel air shocks all the way around. For an added bonus, a chrome 3 gallon air tank provides a place to hold the available air. Jason Bullock of White House, Tennessee and the owner are responsible for all suspension work. Brandon next moved to the exterior of his Sonoma. Again, he called on Bullock to help him out with this task.Bullock started by smoothing the Sonoma front to rear. He shaved the tailgate handle, antenna and 3rd brake light.

An FBI steel roll pan was welded in to complete the smooth rear end. A skin from a 1969 Camaro was welded in place over Brandon’s stock hood, giving him a custom cowl hood. A Trenz grille insert was installed, along with APC smoked clear taillights. Bullock also added a 2000 GMC Envoy bumper and valance combo and driving lights. Finally, a fiberglass bed cover from Checkmate was installed.
