Just a Girl....
For Kim Martin, it all started when her husband, then boyfriend, Billy decided to take her to a car show. We all know the feeling when you stroll around and see the rides, the shiny wheels, the fresh paint, the chrome engines. From that day forward, Kim would get involved more than she ever thought she would.
Back in August of ’96, Kim picked up her daily driver, and brand new Mitsubishi Eclipse. The car show mentality that Billy had introduced to her had quickly sunk in to her blood and before she knew it, he bought her a Wings West wing for her Eclipse. But that was only the beginning.
Tim Russell of Spray Techniques, with the help of Billy, was called in to install an Autosport 4 piece body kit, complete with new front and rear bumpers. Mesh grille inserts were installed to the front and rear bumpers and ion bulbs replaced the stock headlight units. Kim’s car was then taken to Tim Armstrong of Kreative Kustoms in Ashland City, Tennessee for a makeover in the paint department. Armstong laid down several different House Of Kolor paints over the silver base coat, then went back and airbrushed the new graphics to give it more of a 3D appearance. Finishing off the exterior, pinstriping was applied to the stock taillights to give them a totally new appearance as well.
To get the suspension down at a more race inspired look, R&C Lowrider in Arizona was contacted to supply the products to accomplish this task. R&C hooked Kim up with lowered springs and specially made struts that would allow the use of her Red’s one pump and two battery hydraulic system. Husband Billy and John Vandell handled all suspension modifications.
