When you think of a car show, you usually don't think of one being held in a little town like Asheville, North Carolina. It happens though! Slammed Impressions (SI) has been doing just that for the past four years now. Don't let the fact that it's not in a big city fool ya! This year, like the past two, it has been held at the Biltmore Square Mall. People come from as far away as Florida to attend the shows this club puts on. This years' show was the biggest and best show they've ever put on. The show site is a perfect location. It's in the mall parking lot and with in walking distance to all the food, hotels and stores and a whole 2.7 miles from my house. I think I put whopping 11 miles on my car for the two-day show. Talk about a long distance show! LOL Attending this show was nothing new to me since I used to be in Slammed Impressions. I was on the other side of it in the past though. The show started bright and early Saturday morning after a night of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Luckily the rain quit before the show started. The sun came out and it wound up being a perfect weekend. I showed up at the show site at about 9am after my 3-minute drive and meeting up with a couple fellow Relaxed Atmosphere guys. Custom rides were starting to show up when I got there. We found a place to park and started wiping on our cars so we could find a shaded area to get out of the already hot sun. By this time the parking lot was getting crowded. A local stereo shop put on a SPL shoot-out in the same parking lot on Saturday so a few stereo cars showed up, too. I did a lot of walking Saturday and hooking up with people I haven't seen in a while and finally met PhatMx6 and Laura200sx in person. The guys from SI had everything organized so roll in and judging would be quick and easy. The parking lot quickly filled up as the day went on. I spent most of Saturday walking around and checking out all the custom rides. After walking all day it was time for the long drive home for the night. A few of us took off to a cook out after the show and caught up on old times. Then it was off to the local cruisin' strip. There were several rides from the show riding around showing off! Somewhere around 10am Sunday morning it was time to show back up at the show for another day of custom rides. I pulled up to see that there were already several cars there and ready to show. Around lunchtime the guys from Slammed Impressions held a lowest car and truck contest. I give them credit because with a few door dragin' mini's its hard to judge the lowest. With the presence of several 4x4's, they even had a highest truck contest.

Shortly after the lowest/highest was tallied, they had a hydro contest complete with a truck with a full dancing bed. Before awards were given out, Chad from Pebble Pushers backed his Mazda and I pulled the CRX under the biggest truck of the show…a lifted Excursion. By doing this, Chad is able to say that he has a scratch on his bed cover from being parked at a show! LOL Then it was time to find some shade to sit under and wait for awards to be given out. As soon as the last minute scores were added and several door prizes were passed out thanks to some of the venders, like Drop 'em Wear, awards went smoothly and quickly After all the awards were passed out it was time for the Best Of's. Best truck went to Mike Rash with his body dropped S-10 who happens to be the cover truck for the June '00 issue of SSM. Best Car went to Terence Newber and his mistic Corolla while the Best of Show Overall went to John Cole and his multicolor S-10. This years turnout was bigger than ever so next year you can expect the same. For more info on this years or next years show you can email SI at SlammedImpressions@Hotmail.com Brandon Burrella.k.a.
