Have you ever woke up and thought "Man things have been going good?" Well, the last couple of months have been that way for me. It's nice to know that trying to do right, and being a decent person doesn't always get you the short end of the stick. Granted that doesn't make the journey any easier, but sometimes the end result is pretty cool. Drop your ride, grab a seat, and we'll cruise into my world for the month of July. One of the coolest things that happened in the month of June was a delivery I received from UPS. Yes, I still despise the sound of a UPS truck. On this day, though, he didn't run over me, but instead gave me the package from Alter Images containing the new steering wheel for the Nissan. I quickly opened the box to find exactly what I had wanted, a nice pretty diamond shape going across the middle with the Severed Ties logo engraved on the horn button. Oh, the sight of billet is pretty. Something I had thought about awhile back was finally a reality sitting in my hands. Thanks go out to the two Steve's from Alter Images, and NRC for making me a sweet looking steering wheel. As for my old school chain that I received lots of "why do you have that on your truck?" it'll be going on the wall in my garage. Another cool thing in June was that I got to get several new tattoos. I think tattoos are as addicting as MiniTrucks. After you get your first one, you'll want more and more. My latest additions include 6 skulls, my last name, and a bunch of flames to my right arm. On my left arm I had to have the first tattoo I ever got (1990 spring break, while in Spain) covered due to fading. That's the only two downsides to tattoos, first you got to make sure it's something you want forever, and the second is that they fade over the years. I also recommend that you check out the tattoo shop you're thinking of using before you ever get one. If you ever get to Rome, GA, and are in the market for a tattoo I would recommend Personal Grafix at 706-234-8900. The owner, Chuck, uses totally sterilized equipment, and has 13 years experience. If all goes well, this is the month I'll be able to pick up my dually from the folks at Ekstensive Metal Works. I've been around minis a long time now and still love them very much, BUT it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that I'll be able to tow the Nissan, drag frame, and have plenty of room for Brandi, Nicholas, and I to cruise to town or shows in comfort. I'm definitely looking forward to being able to get in it without jumping. Oh the joys of being short. As for the suspension work, I expect that it'll be top notch after seeing Bill Carlton's personal dually.

July is also going to be exciting as we're going to the MiniTruckin' Nationals in Pigeon Forge, TN for the first time. It's amazing that I've lived in GA for 8 years, only 4 hours away, and have never been. Hopefully the shows, or at least the cruising will live up to the hype, and I'll want to go back next year. Anyway, if you see Brandi and I cruising around in her new Tahoe say hello. Texas Heat Wave is also at the end of this month. This year's show is at the Dell Diamond, which is a new location in Round Rock, TX, and should turnout to be a good show. I have spoken to David Mcdonald on a couple of occasions about this year's show. The biggest thing to worry about is the Round Rock Police. According to my sources there's only 70 cops on the force, but the chief of police is going to be looking to give show competitors tickets for anything they can. We as customizers can put a damper on this plan though. All we have to do is show up in force, keep the tickets to a minimum, and keep the partying on 6th street. I know that sounds like a lot to ask for. Wouldn't it be cool though to make the police sweat it out all weekend, and not to be able to give one ticket? We as customizers, and young people can dispel some of the stereotypes that we are faced with just by watching some of our own actions. I guess that about wraps things up this month. Cruise low, fornicate with protection, and I look forward to meeting all of you at a show or somewhere. Later!Russell -ST-
