Since I work at a body shop that often uses silicon sealants we decided to use heavy-duty window and panel sealer used for sealing windows in cars and body panels. We spread a ½” thick bead around the area where the rag top frame is going to rest. Be prepared for a mess when you are doing this, I suggest you have some rags and lacquer thinner/cleaner close by. You will need a couple people to lift the ragtop into the hole. First make sure that the hole for the rag top lock is in the front. Lower the frame assembly into the hole and squeeze it tight to the roof being careful not to dent it. We used heavy duty C clamps to hold the frame tight to the roof, be careful not to make them to tight because you may dent the roof around the frame. We clamped the frame down on both sides and the front and back. We waited approx. 2 hours before we began any drilling. The silicon that is being squeezed out will take you a decent amount of time to clean up. After we were all cleaned up we cleared the silicon out of the holes so that the studs could be pushed through. Tighten the studs all around the roof by pushing the studs into the holes and using the washers and nuts from underneath. Be careful not to over tighten any of the studs. Next you can silicon around the inside of the studs if you feel the need to go the extra mile.
