There was smoke everywhere! The rent-a-cops even came over to check it out. Although they told on everyone, they still had a good laugh out of it. About 15 minutes after the cops came, things mellowed out a bit. Yeah, so we thought! Haha! The burn out contest moved into the Howard Johnson parking lot! I came stumbling down the stairs with a few brews and all of a sudden I was getting pelted with rubber. I looked to my right and saw nothing more than a big cloud of smoke. The next thing I saw was the funniest face I’ve ever seen! This old, old man came busting around the corner pissed as hell. It was the owner, and damn was he mad! I can understand why, but the look on his face was a Kodak moment that’s for sure.
SSM has to give credit where credit is due; to the guy who owns the little lowered S-10, who proved to be the best burn out contestant of the evening. For what seemed like an eternity, the little S-10 smoked the tires, much to the delight of the crowd. There was so much smoke it looked like our hotel was on fire. We were all waiting on the guy to either blow the engine or a tire, whichever came first. But again, PF’s finest rolled up and put an end to the burn out fun. Oh well, at least they were laughing about it.
The partying continued all through the night with people walking and riding by, stopping to say hello and just partying like crazy. One cool thing about a major show like this is the amount of people we meet that talked to us and check out the website on a daily basis. Putting a face to a screen name is cool and we were able to match many, many faces to names. After partying late, late into the evening, it was time to crash, let the beer get out of my system and get a few hours rest for the next day.
Sunday morning came way too fast. The heat was already beating down and it was only 11am. After getting the luggage loaded up, we met another group of rides to shoot for features and headed over to the location we found to do the shoots. Traffic was already in full force, with all 3 lanes bumper to bumper of rides heading to shows or just cruising. Sunday was spent taking photos of bad ass rides that we felt were worthy of sharing with our viewers.
If you’ve never attended Pigeon Forge, mark it on your calendar for next year. It’s not just a show, it’s an experience - two shows and more cruising than you can imagine. Make sure you take plenty of beer, sun block and watch who picks you up at the airport...
