Another thing people get lazy with, or they just don’t do it, are the door jams not being painted or the engine isn’t finished. You’ve got to have at least one door open about 18 inches. I’m sure it is different from show to show but that is a safe number. Also the same with your hood and with your trunk/bed cover. Some judges won’t go out of their way to judge it if it’s not open, so you just lost points. Even if it’s not done, some points are better then none. And last, but certainly not least, is a display. Those with a display usually will out do all those with out. Just an FYI Okay now that I’ve got that out of the way quit your bitchin’…. haha Now I’m going to travel the beaten path of listening to others while building your ride. Here is my thing: its your ride and your money so use YOUR ideas. Now don’t get me wrong, if someone asks my opinion I’ll give it to them. But, I’ll also remind them that it’s their ride. Back to the Austin scene. This is a prime example of why you don’t listen to what other people have to say. Especially at that precise moment! At least think it over before hand.

As pictured, this poor sap was talked into spray painting his rear rims blue with orange center caps and the front rims orange with blue center caps. They had him soooo worked up that he even ended up spraying his grille orange, and his door handles blue! Although he ended up happy with the turn out, it will end up being a laugh everywhere it goes I’m sure. I guess when asked about the overspray on the tires, he was told that it would wipe right off cause he armor all’s his tires. Yes….yes….it is cruel and funny as hell. But this individual is a prime example of why you use your own ideas. So even though this article doesn’t make much sense, I hope we all learned something here today. I know I learned that after staring at a blank screen for hours can jolt some kind of topic to discuss. Anyway, I’m done blabbing so till next month I’ll be looking for the funny things in “minitruckin’” life to discuss in future issues.
