The Industry Player
With August upon us the main part of the show season is about over and most everyone is now in SEMA mode. I’m no different from the majority as my frame is finally being picked up for shipment Saturday (8/7) and once here it will be cleaned up if necessary, bag mounts added and then stripped down to go to the powder coater. That will give us 2 weeks to finish all of the body work, bed work and call on some friends from Oregon to schedule time away from home to help get this thing put back together and engine running. Once we have that accomplished I should have plenty of content for tech articles and what not to start running. I’ve planned on running things over the past few issues but wanted to have the frame here first off to ensure we had plenty of tech articles stored up to last till the Mazda was in paint.
As I was walking around at THW this past weekend I had a chance to put the camera down and just enjoy a few of the rides on display and think back at some of the other shows to get an over view of what direction the scene went this year. One thing that stuck out in my mind more then anything was that there seemed to be a lot more people actually in and doing their own work to the body, suspension and paint around the country. Although ultimately this is very cool, people shouldn’t be afraid to get help to ensure that things turn out safe, proper and able to maintain longevity. Another thing that came out with some of the nicer rides out there, I’ve noticed a lot more graphics then say last year. Are we back in a trend of crazy graphic schemes or are these just individuals that never felt like leaving the phase and now stand out at shows? The last thing that I have noticed over the year so far was the intense suspension set-up’s from coast to coast. People are really becoming creative, and helping to push others around the nation to keep up and create more outlandish set-ups. The same thing is happening with new and upcoming body modifications, as there is some stand out mods from show to show. All in all I’d have to say this has been a great year for extreme customs.
This issue has nothing short of custom rides, as we are here to continue to bring you killer customs from coast to coast. From cover with Steve’s Ram to the last page of coverage you are sure to be pleased with what we have to show. So sit back and click away from page to page checking out the tons of photos we are yet again bringing you with this issue.
P.S. We are still looking for those interested in doing photography for us so don’t hesitate to email me at Garrick@StreetSource.com
Till Next Month,
