I am getting my article started for September issue nice and early. I have been so motivated by the overwhelming response to last months article “Where My Girls At?” I have laughed at how much they are alike and all the cool stories I have gotten from other girls on how they were exposed to the car scene. However there is one thing that is very clear. So please let this me talk to our SSM men for a moment on what these girls are talking about. Many of the Street Source girls have created their own rides. My respect to all of you! And it seems that we all have pretty much the same frustrations. However the same one was mentioned time and time again. “Don’t tell me you like my boyfriends ride” These women are working their asses off to buy these cars, make them phat enough to show, get the cash to get to the show, and take home “your trophies”! Yes I said “your trophies”. Don’t get too down on yourself for being beat by a girl it was bound to happen. I had the chance this month to travel to Crescent City, California to the Out Of The Woods show thrown by Below Sea Level. First off if you go to this show next year, bring warm clothes, just because it is California doesn’t mean it is 90* across the state. This was a fun run. There were a lot of nice vehicles. I saw quite a few girls and something occurred to me that I have seen at many shows. I hope I am not to blunt when I say “Girls can be fierce with each other” I don’t know if we see each other as competition or what? I have gone out of my way to make eye contact and smile with a lot of girls at many different shows only to get a glare in return. Please don’t get me wrong there is the girls that smile back and say hi. For the others here is my question: Are these feelings club related or just being a girl?

I know that for me I hate watching bikini contests. It is not a jealousy issues as much as I really don’t want to see your breasts, if that is what is in store. I have my own. If I had a boyfriend, I don’t want him looking at your chest either. This issue is a lost cause though. They will always be there so I try just to accept that we all make our own choices. So at this show there were a lot of nice rides, and even more cool people. I found a lot of girls there. Some to support their significant others habit and some to show. While Garrick was busy shooting his features from the show and bossing me around I took some time to talk to the girls there. We joked about watching the guys on their hands and knees dusting every speck of dust off of their cars. We were all jealous they didn’t treat us as well as they were treating the car. I am not sure they even noticed we were still there? It was nice to hang with other cool girls at this show and discuss the scene. The final night of the show, a group of us pathetically huddled around a lantern to keep warm and joked all night long. We returned to the ocean view room (Thank you Sherrik) late and exhausted from the day and dreading our 12-hour drive back. This was a great 3-day event and hopefully we will continue to cover this show in the future. Until October –“Hustler”Email me at “Maggie@StreetSourceMag.com”
