Out Of The Woods 5
Out of the Woods 5 was held by Below Sea Level at Del Norte Rod & Gun Club in Smith River, California August 17th-19th.
Just like last year, the crew from Below Sea Level assured me that I'd have a great time with badass rides to view. They also assured me a beach front hotel room and bikini clad women, we'll okay so the women would come during the night in the form of partying so I guess they did me right. J
Starting the weekend off would be a flight into Portland where Donnie from Magical would pick me up and then I'd hit the open road with him and a few other members for the 5-hour drive to the show. With myself being a passenger on the trip that would give myself an opportunity to get truckers honking and putting down a few cold ones. Upon our arrival Late Thursday night to the show grounds, to our surprise there where already clubs there along with a few guys from Canada. I didn't manage to stay up much later as it was already late and the tasty beverages where starting to wear off.
With Friday arriving early, I managed to sneak off with Sherrick and Daisy's Van to hit town for some KFC and whatever else came to mind at the time I was in town. After being gone for a few hours, I returned to a line of rides awaiting entrance along with a ton more that had already shown up. This time last year there seemed to be about half as many rides, I could tell this weekend would be a good one.
With the nighttime approaching it was time to bring out the beverages and start mingling with the clubs in attendance. With all the walking being done, I managed to steal BSL's golf cart and used it for transportation the rest of the night bombing through the woods managing not to hit any trees we couldn't see due to our flashlight headlight assembly. With the gas tank emptying and the beer taking effect, it was time for Daisy to drop me off at the hotel so I could rest for the show the next morning. 		The rise of the Ocean sounds and a mild headache, I was up and ready to go take some pictures. When I arrived at the show there where still show goers entering the gates and the show grounds themselves where already packed. I took off stumbling through the cars to snap pictures for all to enjoy. There was a good turn out of quality rides and with the day moving on the club participation games where on their way. They had one where a team of 2 people would take turns sucking off a 2-liter bottle of warm pop. Of course the 2 big guys won. Then it was off to the Dance off which came down to a Full-size truck on fast bags and a civic coupe on cylinders. It was to close to call for me but they where both fun to watch. The events left where a dizzy tricycle race and a truck pull. Pure entertainment that's all I have to say!
As the night approached so did the drunkin' screams of girls having fun and guys taunting to get naked. With the DJ getting jiggy with it on stage the girls slowly made there way up top and began to show it all. As the guys in the crowd videotaped and snapped pictures, other guys managed to jump on stage with them to dance the night away. As the night got later, I was brought back to my room as I had photo shoots to attend to in the morning hours.
As was last year's event, the crew from BSL did a great job on the show and making sure everything ran smoothly. I had a great time; much better then last year and I will be back again next year!
