Indy Truck Bash
Indy Truck Bash
This is the event that I look forward to each and every year. Since Family Events took over Indy Truck Bash, it seems to get bigger and better every year. 2002 was no exception. The one and only major change that Family Events has made is the name. What most people know as "Indy Truck Bash" has now been renamed "Import and Truck Bash/Indianapolis" But to those who have been attending since the beginning, it will always be Indy Truck Back.
Friday morning, I rolled over to fellow club member Jason Roger's pad, scooped him up and we set out for the five hour trek to Indianapolis. I couldn't relay to Jason enough how much fun this show is every year, so when we arrived, we didn't waste any time. We went straight to the Indianapolis Raceway Park. Upon arriving, we ran into my friends from Pleasures, Kevin and Jimmy. They made the trek with the Street Trucks cruise from Cali to Indy. We talked for a few minutes then both went over to the track to walk around and check things out.
After getting our press credentials in order (haha my new photographer Jason) we headed into the park and met up with the crew that were staying with for the weekend, Kevin and Amanda from Negative Camber and Scott and MikeD. Kevin had been running his NOS-breathing 2002 Lightning on the track for most of the day, so we talked about his times for a little while. I also met Daniel from Negative Camber-Texas and a few of the NC crew that I haven't had the chance to meet yet. After a little while, Nick and the NC-Kentucky boys rolled up and we chilled.
Right away i knew that the show was going to be bigger than ever. The grass was already filled with killer rides from all over the country and Vendors Alley was already packed with all the major players in the scene. Companies such as Falken Tire, MA Audio, Bewley's Body Works and Air Ride Technologies were showing their new products and latest rides.
Friday evening we went back over to the hotel, showered and met a large group (ok, like 60 people) at Hooters for an evening of fun that began there. Everyone was there, including Negative Camber, Down II Earth and the Pleasures crew. After everyone finished their drinking beer and paying their tabs, the entire crew headed over to the strip club for some fun.
Bobby Bell, just how much money did spend anyway? After the strip club, Kevin decided that needed to borrow a something from a bus stop bench. With the help of a tire iron, we were able to get our loaner public service announcement sign with ease. By the way, make sure you check out the official website at http://www.Rumykid.com....
The next morning, we got up early (hey, 9am is early for me okay!) and rolled over to the show. Yeah, it was definitely the largest Indy Truck Bash to date! The grounds were packed. I quickly walked through and said hello to all my friends as I snapped photos of the amazing amount of quality vehicles in attendance. Right away I noticed the large amount of imports, but how many trucks were showing, so it didn't make the show feel like it was over ran with imports, as many shows have as of late.
After the show, we took showers, changed clothes and headed out to dinner, then went over to the bar where all the drunk minitruckers were singing karaoke. Gotta love a gang of drunks singing N'SYNC, Abba and other various artists!
Sunday morning brought rain, but not for long. Shortly after the rain began, it subsided and the hot Indianapolis sunshine peeked through, raising the temperature to what seemed like 200 degrees. A few last minutes photos and we jumped back in the truck bound for Nashville.
There's really no need to explain why anyone should attend this event. This show proves itself each and every year drawing more and more vehicles without sacrificing quality. If you have never attended Indy Truck Bash, mark it on your calenders for next year and see what all the talk is about.
