Every year I sit down and try to lay out my show schedule. Normally I stick to the schedule, but sometimes I add or delete a few weekends. This year I had to make sure I put the Bash at the Beach on my list first. Jay and his Show-N-Shine crew put on this show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I had attended this show the past two years and didn't want to take a chance and miss it this year. Being that the show is at one of the southeast's major vacation spots, what better chance to take my vacation from work and spend a few days at the beach. We headed out Wednesday before the show and packed long enough to stay till Sunday for the end of the show. Now that I've redone my stereo system and completely lost my hatch, it was a task and a half to fit my wife, my 3 year old and I along with all our bags and cleaning stuff for the show in the car. But after a few packs and repacks, I managed to fit it all. When we arrived at the beach there were already several cars running around and cruising the strip even as early as Wednesday night. So evidently I wasn't the only one that wanted to stretch a car show weekend into a vacation. After a couple relaxing days at the beach, we headed down to the strip Friday night and met up with some of the guys from Pebble Pushers who were staying right on the strip. This provided a great place to park and watch all the cruisers and was close enough to the amusement park to let my little girl ride a few rides. Once Saturday rolled around, it was off to the Colonial mall where Jay and the SNS crew had the show site already set up. Several venders were also there set up selling everything from stickers to hoods to wheels. Once I had the car wiped down and ready to be judged, I headed off for the drive though judging line. The show crew always does a good job classing and judging all the rides there. Now that getting my car judged was out of the way, it was off to start taking pictures. By this time the parking lot was already full and the entry line was all the way around the corner, so as far as you could see there was nothing but custom rides. This year Jay was unable to put a few cars inside the mall due to the fact that the malls ceiling was being remodeled. Luckily the weather cooperated great with us, which made the show run even smoother. Saturday night about dark thirty and after all the judging was done, Jay and the crew held a neon competition. Unfortunately I missed it due to the fact that dinner didn't go as fast as planned at Planet Hollywood. As soon as dinner was over, it was back to the strip to hang out and watch all the cruisers once again.

Sunday early came too early, and it was time to pack things back in the car and head over to the show site to check out a few more rides and wait for awards. Even though the weather was nice the rest of the weekend, it sprinkled off and on for a little while before awards. Yet as soon as the first trophy was given out, the rain seemed to stop and the sun came back in. Several awards were handed out as well as big detail kits, including a buffer and all the goodies, thanks to one of the shows sponsors to all the shows best of winners. All the big trophies also came with a few hundred dollars. This is something Jay always does for his Best of Show winners. The cash ranges from $100 to $300. After attending this show for three years now, I will definitely make sure its one of my 2004 shows. If you're close to Myrtle Beach, make sure you don't miss it!
