Last month I told you I was having a little get together for my birthday. It wasn't like a huge party where the neighbors were calling the cops or nothing like that, but it was very fun nonetheless. Once everybody showed up, we fired up the grill and commenced to cooking. Good food and good friends make for a cool day. Thinking about it now, I'm still amazed that we had 8 people watching the grill and still ended up with some of the food being burned. It all got eaten though. One of our friends, Daniel, who we named Nextel, provided added entertainment by bringing one girl with him, and having his ex-girlfriend call him nonstop from his house which she was refusing to move out of. Okay, so I feel a little sorry for the guy, but it was funny watching him trying to mack on this girl with his phone ringing every 5 mins. For the record, I did get some cool things for my birthday like a new tattoo, some white face gauges for my Nissan, and few other items I had been wanting. Hopefully next years get together will be as much fun. Nextel, you should leave the phone at home though. With the show season fast approaching, I've decided to put my Nissan on back burner for a bit and concentrate on my dually which hopefully will be a cool looking daily driver by it's first show of the year. Some things in the works include shaving, painting, and other areas of improvement. I don't want to give to much away so I'll keep the details to myself. I'm pretty excited about this year as far as shows are concerned. We've already got rooms for some shows that we'll be attending for the first time, and plans to attend shows that are what we like to think of as "must go to". It's always a treat to meet new people and get to spend time with those that you only see a few times a year. I know that since Sept. 11, 2001, everybody's life has been touched in some form or fashion. It was a very tragic and senseless act. Growing up, both my parents served in the Army which gave me good and bad experiences that I will never forget. Some of these experiences include looking over the Berlin wall and seeing basically a city inside of a country where people stood in line for hours just to buy toilet paper, and then were limited to how many they could buy. Another would be going to some of the concentration camps used in W.W.II, and seeing the rows and rows of unmarked mass graves. It makes you think about even the smallest of freedoms we take for granted. Some of the good experiences would be getting to see countries where U.S. troops are stationed and the people that are so greatful that we're there. We are the most powerful free country in the world. This makes us a target, but also makes us roll models.

The melting pot that is our country is a symbol of not only freedom, but one that if you try hard enough you can be or do anything you want. As an American, I tell you that I love our country, and I'm very proud of those that protect our freedoms everyday without expecting something in return. In this category I include the service people of our armed forces, the police men/women that protect our streets, the firemen, and the list goes on all the way down to the teachers in our schools that try to help teach our kids right from wrong. Thank you. Until next month keep it low, keep it clean, try to accept the people around you better, and if you feel it, tell our public servants thank you.Russell GulowSubCulture
