Another thing that I personally recommend and a lot of shops require is to become certified thru the Mobile Electronics Certification Program or M.E.C.P. for short. MECP is a nationally recognized certification program that insures the customer that the person under there dash with the plumbers crack showing knows what he or she is doing and is not some untrained nitwit. MECP is similar to the ASC program that most automotive mechanics are certified thru. MECP does require working knowledge, experience in a shop enviroment and the passing of an administered test. Contact MECP for more information on becoming certified. http://www.ce.org/certifications/mecp/default.aspLast but not least you will need tools and lots of them. Not Wal-Mart tools either I'm talking nice quality tools. Think about it this way would you want a Doctor working on you with a dull cheap scalpel and half the tools he needed to fix you up the right way? Ok so maybe that was a little extreme but it's true customers pay allot of money for the vehicles and cheap tools is asking for a disaster. I recommend Craftsman, Snap-on, Matco or Mac tools. I know what your thinking I can't afford those high dollar tools, but if you think about it those are the tools you use to make your money and the better the tools the faster you will be and the faster you are the more jobs you can do and that means more money. Always use the right tools for the right job it will make the job and your life so much easier. Well I hope I answered some of the questions some of you might have about the car audio installation profession. It's a great profession but it takes a time investment on your part. Your not going to be a Dave "Fishman" Rivera or a Mark Faquda overnight it takes time and patients. If you need any more information please feel free to contact me and I'd love to help. Until next month. Ben HusserSSM: LaynbdyEmail: Laynbdy@midsouth.rr.com
