While waiting at the Parker store, Mike calls another buddy of ours who comes by to meet up with us as well as Mike's now wife Lori. Brandi and I wanted to go to a bookstore to look for a magazine that we can't find here in Rome. Lucky for us Lori showed up. I say that because if she hadn't; once again we would have been quite lost. Between Mike's poor directions and Jonathan not being sure where we were, it was Lori who got us exactly where we wanted to be. With 6 people on a quest to find one magazine, the odds were in our favor. Victory was achieved, and we were off again. The magazine, on a side note, was the new issue of Truckin's SUV in which Brandi had shot a white Yukon that finally ran.
Back on the road we went and checked out the Mock's new house, Jonathan's under construction mini, and basically got to see some of what the town had to offer. Then it was back to Parker to drop of some passengers, and off to the hotel to get ready to go out. Clean and hungry, we were off to meet the rest of the group for some food and fun. With a navigator on hand now we met up with the rest of our group without a hitch.
Staying out late, a lumpy bed, and getting up early all lead to one thing, an irritable personality. Two Aleve, some food, and some time later we were ready again to explore our new surroundings. Getting lost does have some advantages you can run upon some stuff you wanted to see anyway. Most of the day was spent shopping, with dinner planned for later with the Shortway family. Like having dinner with MiniTruckers, the Shortway's were a lively bunch that kept the whole dinner exciting. After dinner we got to hang out with our friend for the evening catching up on what's been going on and talking about times past.
Our last night in the lumpy bed left us more excited than ever to know we were checking out. Sunday was mostly just checking out, going to a museum, and heading home. The trip home was much quicker, and less confusing as we headed for roads we knew would lead us home. In the end I would say that we had a total blast. Even getting lost wasn't so bad. The moral of the story is definitely to triple check the directions, and if that fails call a local of where you're going. Well okay, the local's wife, and she'll more than likely get you to point b.
later,
Russell
