I have to start off this month's column with two words.....HELLLLLLLLL YEAH!!!!!! I finally got to go purchase a brand new car (a Tahoe was my choice). I finally got to get back in my groove of going to shows, hanging out with my homies, and having fun. The funk I've been in for the last year is over. Thank goodness. Now I can get back to the important things in life. You know, modifications, chillin', shows, and hanging out with my 5 year old (that never stopped). I flew on an airplane for the first time this last month and let me tell you, it was not pretty. Now would be the time for all of you veteran flyers to begin cackling. First of all, I like to have both feet on the ground. Second of all, whenever I'm doing something that could KILL me, I tend to get hyper-paranoid. We live about an hour and a half from the airport and I managed to smoke a whole pack of cigarettes in that time. I also called my lawyer and basically made a fool of myself on his answering machine, telling him about updating our will and who gets custody of our son, and how I wanted our money in a trust for Nicholas (our son). At the end of the call, I realized how idiotic I sounded and finished with, "I'll call you on Monday and let you know we got home okay!" I know that none of that would have helped with nothing on paper and signed but damn it, it made me feel better!!!! To make matters worse, Nicholas was going to Pigeon Forge, TN with my mother for the weekend and let's just say that she doesn't drive the way I do. So, of course, I had that to worry about along with blowing up in mid air. Aside from being mortified of exploding, the flight was great. It was actually pretty cool to be going faster than even the fastest racecar I've been in. The whole g-force thing was pretty cool too. My advice for anyone flying for the first time: you can not decide where you want your kid to live if you die after you've left for the airport so do it ahead of time.

Another interesting thing happened on the way to the airport. Russell got a speeding ticket. I tried to tell him to slow down but he just wasn't in the mood to listen that day. I think he was high from the second hand smoke or something. It was one of those pullovers where the cop is sitting on the side of the road and shooting radar out of his window and he just points at you. He was also pretty cool since we pulled over immediately (not an easy feat in 5:00 Atlanta traffic). He reduced the ticket to where it was not over 15 miles over the limit so that the points wouldn't go on Russell's license. Since we were going pretty fast, I thought that was a decent thing for him to do, especially since we were in the Nissan and he could've given us a ton of other tickets. I guess not all policemen are bad. The whole reason we were getting on the stupid plane was to go to Garden State Nationals. We had a blast. I got to meet a whole bunch of new people and hang out with a bunch of old friends. One of our close friend's girl friend is very pregnant and we should have a little minitrucker by the time you read this. Congrats to Erica and Butchy!!! We got to cruise Seaside (a killer cruise, I might add.) and even though it didn't seem to be quite as good this year as others, it was still a lot of fun. On Sunday, we headed back to Baltimore early so we could do the whole tourist thing before our flight home. Baltimore is a pretty cool place to visit and I would recommend that if you get close to there, stop and stay a couple of days and see what they have to offer. We are getting ready to move in just a few short weeks so we are doing lots of packing and saying lots of good-bye's. I didn't know until now how much STUFF you can accumulate in eight years. I'm also sad that I'm leaving all of my family behind. I'm a southern girl and we like to be close to our mommy. I've almost talked my mom into moving out there after we get settled and I'm hoping that if she misses me as much as I will miss her then she will. I've also extracted a promise from Russell that if I absolutely hate it, we will move back after a year. I don't expect there to be anything to hate about the great state of Texas but you never know.
