Man is it just me or is this year FLYIN by fast or what. It seems like yesterday it was Christmas time and New Year of 2003 was just getting started. This has been an extremely busy beginning to the first part of 2003. This is really my first full year of shooting for SSM and ISSM and my calendar has been non-stop so far. But with as busy as I've been I wouldn't trade it for anything. With attending the amount of shows I do each year I see an ALARMING trend developing and I want to put together what I'd like to call "The 12 Commandments" of attending shows. Rather it's a car and truck show or an audio show these 12 Commandments can make the weekend a lot more enjoyable. 1) Thou Shall Not Destroy the Host Town: While attending Showfest this year I watched as people destroyed everything from tree's to signs to you name it all in the name of a laugh, sorry but these things did not come for free and someone had to pay for them.2) Thou Shall Not Destroy Thy Hotel Room: Just cause you rented it for a night does not mean it's yours to destroy and damage.3) Thou Shall Not Piss Off the Locals: Disrespecting the people that live in the host town just because you think it's funny is not cool. 4) Thou Shall Pick up thy Own Trash: Just cause its empty doesn't mean it goes on the ground or in a tree or in a ditch. Find a trashcan or place it back in your cooler to throw away later.5) Thou Shall Not Urinate in Public: Excessive amounts of alcohol DOES NOT make you invisible. We see you behind the tree. Go find a bathroom somewhere.6) Thy Shall Not Show or Ask for the Showing of Body Parts in Public Places: A show is not Mardi Gras or Spring Break and Beads and Breast are not cool. Keep your body parts clothed until you are out of the public eye. 7) Thou Shall Not Do a Burn Out: Burnouts are completely useless and stupid. I can do burn out in a Pinto missing 3 spark plugs. Save the Burn Outs for the track. Rocks hurt!!!!!8) Thou Shall Not Eat in a Public Restaurant and Walkout Without Paying: Just because you had to wait to be seated and the food/service was horrible take that up with management but DO NOT WALK OUT.

9) Thou Shall not get so Intoxicated that YOU cannot hold your liquor: Why do you think getting puking drunk is cool at a show.10) Thou Shall not bring Shame to the Sport of Customs: It never fails we complain about being treated like criminals for building custom rides but yet we get to a show and do illegal stuff. DUH!11) Thou shall not Act Like You lost ALL your Marbles in Public: It's cool to have a great time and cut up and carry on but know when to say when enough is enough.12) Thou shall be thy Brothers Keeper: This is were I'm going to climb a little bit higher on my Soap Box and stay awhile. We as old timers, and young alike need to do a better job of policing our sport. I personally think that 99% of the trouble makers at shows are not the guy that has worked countless hours from daylight to dark and skinned every knuckle on his hand to build the rides we gawk over. It's the lil twerp that came with his bird brain friends that have never built anything custom in their life that come to a show and COMPLETELY ruin it for the rest of us. We need to make sure this kind of behavior STOPS and soon. Ask any Ol Timer from the West Coast what happen to the great shows out West and they will Quickly tell you "It was because of the foolishness that we can no longer have a show there anymore". It's happening more and more and sooner or later we will have no were to go to have a show. We need clean up our sport and loose the negative image. I love customs and hope we never see the days where shows are non-existent. I hope to hear your comments and thoughts on this issue please email me what you think I want to hear how you think we can clean our act up or if you think I'm wrong I'd love to hear those thoughts too. I know your probably thinking LiveWire this month really had nothing to do with Car Audio and your probably right but this is something that truly needs to be addressed. Until next month, and I promise LiveWire will be on Car Audio.Ben HusserSSM-LaynbdyEmail me at: Laynbdy@midsouth.rr.com
