Showfest is one of the most anticipated shows of the year for a lot of people. Every year people work all winter long just to debut their prize possession at Greenville Mississippi's 8th annual Showfest hosted by the amazing crew of Assorted Miniatures. I don't think anyone could have been more excited when Friday May 16th rolled around this year, not because it was Friday but because I was off to attend one of my favorite shows of the year. I left Memphis later then I had planned Friday evening due to work throwing me a curve ball just as I was getting ready to leave. So with the problems solved it was off to Greenville, MS home of the Brown Water Capitol of the World. Once I arrived in G-ville I made my way to our hotel and found all my boys from my hometown of Slidell, LA. Once we got settled in it was off to find all my old friends that had made the trek from as far away as California and Florida. It seamed like everywhere I turned there was an ol friend to say hey to or catch up on old times and share a laugh. And then there is what makes G-Ville the favorite among party goers near and far, the strip. It wasn't long till ride after ride was making there passes down the main drag of G-ville showering the freshly lain black top with sparks from Titanium or good Ol' Detroit steel and in true style Bill Carlton from Ektensive Metal Works did his annual doughnut with the Vette in the middle of the main drag. Friday night the law dawgs were out in Full Force stopping anyone and everyone they could get pulled over and issuing the annual G-Ville "Go visit the PD and get your license back $98.00 ticket". I don't think I've been to G-ville and not had someone with us get that ticket. As the night wore on and eyes grew heavy it was time to hit the hay for a long day ahead. Saturday morning came way to soon. Saturday morning brought morning showers and a lot of cloud coverage. As I made my way to the fairgrounds and found myself in the extremely long line leading into the show grounds I began to look around at the already packed grounds. This was going to be the biggest show G-ville has ever seen in my 5 years of attending the show. Although weather.com and every news channel I'd seen showed extensive rain and heavy showers in the weekend forecast, my fear of the weather hurting the show quickly went out the windows as soon as I arrived.

As I parked the beater and made my way around the grounds I ran into even more friends that I had missed Friday night on the strip. As I wandered around I quickly learned how LARGE this show actually was and that if I didn't get to shoot some show coverage soon it was going to be to late. So with my brand new camera that I bought just for G-ville in hand I was off to cover the show. As I made my way around snapping coverage and setting up features for when he whether cleared, the amount of quality that this show brings totally amazed me. It was obvious that people from all over America had made the trek to a small little farm town in the middle of "NO WERE" Mississippi. I ran into the IF Customs crew that had completed the drive from Cali to G-ville picking up show goers in there trip along the way, with having over 200 rides there last day of the trip cruising with them into Greenville Friday night. As the day wore on it was time to make my way to the hotel to get ready for the long night of festivities ahead. As soon as the sun went down show goers made there way to the main drag in G-Ville to see what the night had in store. Although this year Saturday nights dragging was not as exciting as years before due to the massive amount of traffic that in years past didn't exist, that didn't stop anyone from running into old friends or making new ones and enjoying the night. As the night drew on and the ice chest got low on cold ones it was time for everyone to get some rest for a long day ahead. The highlight of Saturday night had to be watching Jimmy from the EC's Florida Chapter go swimming in the ditch in front of the Ramada Inn. Just cause he had a little help going in from Stevie and Me didn't make it any less funny. Good thing they put that pole there to break your fall into the ditch or it could have been a lot worst. Sorry Jimmy!!!!!!! Sunday morning was nice, not to hot and not bone chilling cold like last years G-ville was. Although the clouds were still hanging around that didn't stop the great time. Sunday was the busiest day for me because it meant lining up and shooting some features from the enormous gathering of feature and cover quality rides in attendance. As the day wore on it was time to wrap up the last of the features and call it a day. It didn't take long after the show was over till the once jam packed fairgrounds were empty and the town of Greenville, MS had returned to some form of there normal life before thousands of truck and car enthusiasts merged onto Greenville, MS.
