How ya'll is? This month, I figured I'd try something a little different. I was recently talking to a good friend of mine, Stretch Whatley, about what makes our lifestyle tick. He's been in the scene as a member of Relaxed Atmosphere for a while now, and I knew that if anyone I know would have an opinion about this, he would! If you have never spoken to Stretch, you don't know what you're missing. In fact, you can catch him in the SSM Chat A LOT... And now, I'm going to turn the old keyboard over to Stretch... "After being in the show scene for a little over 4 1/2 years I have noticed a lot of animosity between clubs. The way I see it is like this, you have your major nation wide clubs, i.e. ///RA, //NC\\ and . Then you have your semi-big clubs i.e. EC, Subversive, Pleasures, Acrophobia...the ones that people are starting to hear more about. Then you have your little clubs found in almost every city across the US. Any of these types of clubs are fine organizations to be a part of. I hear a lot of the younger, smaller clubs saying that "The big 3" clubs are just a bunch of stuck up rich people that are too good to talk to them. Then you have the older clubs that have been around for a while talking smack about the younger people's rides. Back in 1996 when I picked up an issue of Mini Truckin I noticed a lot of rides with an ///RA logo. I wanted to be a part of that so bad, and four years later, I am finally a member of ///RA. But does that make me any more of a man or better yet a mini trucker? I don't think so. It just means that I worked really hard to be accepted in a large, nationally known club. So why do a lot of us look at a logo and start bagging on that club? If you don't know me, you can't hate me. Remember when you picked up your first issue of Mini Truckin and said "Wow that's phat, I want something close to that to show!" Chances are pretty good that that particular ride was in a major nation wide club. This keeps us younger people on our toes and tells us that it's ok to venture into uncharted waters and start new trends. What I'm trying to say is don't judge a club by just their logo. It's the MEMBERS that make the club, not the other way around.

All you new mini truckers come over and ask us questions about our ride, our club family, whatever, you never know you just might become a member someday. This hobby isn't all competition; it's also about making friends. So every one in the bigger more established clubs let's welcome the young mini truckers with open arms, show them the way because they are the future of our hobby. A lot of the younger people don't have the time, money, or the knowledge like most of us, so help a brotha or sista out! Show them what makes this hobby the best hobby around. And remember don't judge a book by it's cover..." Stretch's thoughts are shared by a lot of us. I remember coming back into the scene after a long absence, I guess I was lucky, because every person I talked to or asked questions of, answered me honestly and openly, and I do my best to return that favor. Also true, to me especially, is that if you're in a club, be it one of the "Big 3" or us up and coming clubs like Explicit Concepts, don't knock someone else without a reason. If someone gives you a reason to start in on them, so be it (remember Dust Off 2K1...hehe), but don't be an ass if it is not justifiable...you just might learn something from the new guys. Well, I'm out...but before I go, I want to give props to Stretch for speaking his mind...and oh yeah, can't forget the all important plug...NASTYBOOTYSEX..hehe Until next month, keep your wheels spinnin' and the beavers grinnin'!
