The ragtop I chose was the canvas (black) 38x40 rag. This rag would clear the stock sunroof while still allowing enough room not to go into the rain gutters. To get the size of the rag top frame assembly (38x40) and subtract 2 from each measurement (38-2=36 and 40-2=38). Next subtract 1 more inch from 36x38 and you will come up with a 35X37 hole you will need to mark out on your roof. If you need more room for the top all you have to do from there is trim the hole.

We then got the template by placing 3M green tape around the perimeter of the frame assembly. We then covered over that with painter’s paper so that the template was bigger and easier to work with. The template was then pulled off the rag top frame and placed on the roof to be moved where we wanted it to be. I figured that I would want enough room for the sun visors to have room to close without blocking the hole when the top is open, and make it so that the top didn’t rest on the window when open.
