Get their name, company address and all that good stuff and cruise to the post office to mail it. Now you can send it regular mail, but I like to send my stuff at least priority 2 day mail. This gets the proposal to them faster, and it comes in a package that’s hard to miss. Another nice thing to do is to send it Priority mail, but send it so it requires their signature to receive it. That way the person has to sign for the package, and you will get a return receipt stating that they did get it. Then you’ll never hear “I never got the proposal.”
Once you have received a sponsorship, do what you’ve told them you would do – get in that magazine, show at those shows, and make sure you keep your sponsor updated. I like to email my sponsors once a month with an update of how the vehicle is coming, pictures, and future plans. If you keep your sponsors happy, they will more than likely remember you when you start building your next project.
There you go, the basics of sponsorship. Next month we’ve got a lot to cover on the Focus. Until then, here’s a list of the sponsors I have currently received things from for the wagon. Other sponsors are in the works, but until everything is signed and sealed, I’ll wait to list them. If you have any questions regarding sponsors, or are a sponsor who might want to participate in the Makin’ Waves Focus project, email me at kewhipps@goodnet.com. Until next month, drag on.
