Pigeon Forge
As the 4th of July rolls around each year there is one thing that the majority of the US looks forward to. Okay, not the majority but a good part of the customizing late model community looks forward to. This would be a weekend in the big city of Pigeon Forge, TN. For those of you that have never attended, the town consists of hotel after hotel along a road 6 lanes wide (3 each way), packed with rides bumper to bumper for miles.
As I found last year, there are lots of cool ass people out there to meet and kick down a few cold ones with. This year was the same as last. After arriving Wednesday night for the 4th, Kris and I headed to the Valley Forge Inn to meet up with my bud's from Exclusive Styles. After a few quick drinks we all headed down the street to find our way to the go-kart tracks. Since it had been raining we only found one track that we were able to get on at that moment in time. With every corner came rubbing and whistles from the workers, we knew the weekend would not handle the wrath of our go-kart abilities but for now we would allow them to think they where in control. As late night approached, everyone headed to their rooms to rest up for the weekend festivities and Kris and I crashed in one of the Exclusive rooms till Thursday morning when our reservations kicked in.
When Thursday morning approached, it was time to get our room, which would be located directly above the Exclusive crew, which was found to be comical. With the pool but a fall off the balcony away, quick pictures would come frequently. The day would consist of meeting up with friends we haven't seen in awhile and kicking down a few drinks. With night approaching it was time to gather people to go out go-karting. The first track would find only myself being kicked off the track but soon enough others would fallow. As we ran into Low Rollers, things would only get worse for the Pigeon Forge go-kart tracks. As we proceeded to a few more go-kart tracks, we managed to get booted out of them and even shut down after 2 laps on one track. As we proceeded to take about 6 more laps, Phil from Low Rollers decided to do a few victory laps much to the dismay of the workers and even managed to burn a couple cookies. As we fled the scene, the cops where called and we were referred to as the "fast track fugitives." Daniel Lee being the nice SSM bitch that he is talked to the cops and straighten things out.
With Friday coming all to soon, Kris and I headed early to the show grounds of the Governors Palace to see what early arrivals where hanging out. To much of our surprise there were tons of venders and rides already set up like they had been there the night before. After browsing around we figured it was time to head back to the hotel and party up with everyone else around the town. Before getting to the liquor, Kris, Daniel and I decided it was best to go buy some fun things to use messing with people on the strip. Needless to say the creation of Billy Bob and Dickhead where born. The two where used and abused during the night. As we hit hotel to hotel with our new digs, many people had no clue who we were and I think they were kind of afraid.
After having our fun with the new digs, it was time to proceed to the alcohol and then hit the go-kart tracks for some more fast track fun. After meeting up with Phil and a few others from Low Rollers we proceeded to get kicked out of a few other tracks and ended our night on the note of no longer being welcome on a certain track. But what that crew didn't know was that we had been kicked off of that track the night before. We would be back!
As our fast track group split up, Kris and I headed to the Grand where we would kick it with the crew from 2 Low Xtremes. They proceeded to make sure we had plenty to drink and Kris wasn't shy about accepting alcohol from them. Standing on the side of the road "talking" to passer by'rs, the cops managed to pull me aside on 3 different occasions for causing to much commotion. Scott from 2 Low Xtremes had the quote of the night though, to a cop eye to eye Scott made sure to let the naughty officer know "Bad cop… no doughnut!" Definitely one of the finest sights of the weekend.
As Saturday arrived it was time to hit the shows to see what was going on show ride wise. Kris had drank a little to much the night before so I left him there so that I could accomplish my job. On my way down the strip, I found myself starting the morning off at Sandy's show at the Shular Inn. While there I ran into Mike Finnegan and Lance. Mike and I made plans to tear up some karts that night and went on our way. Wondering where Bobby was this whole time, I walked around the corner and there he was. Together we made quick rounds and hit every vehicle up and made time to talk to the star painter Charles "The Kidd" Armstrong. Talk about a truck that is off the hook!! Damn!! As time ticked away it was time to hit Charlie's show at the Governors Palace.
