Summer Madness 2000
Summer Madness 2000
Well, ladies and gentlemen, this is the first show that was covered by the webmaster. I was unlucky enouph to be stuck at home holding down the fort (or should I say, the website) while everyone else went to shows. Not this time! Yeah baby!
It was kind of a last minute decision to go to Summer Madness (decided the day before we left), and I am glad I went. Christy Patton volunteered to drive the 12 hours (one way) from Boise to Bakersfield. She was all excited to go… Can you say ROAD TRIP! Haha Anyways, after putting up with Christy’s psychotic episodes (she is now known as spaz) for 12 hours, we arrived at the gates of the show. We were surprised that the lines to get in were fairly short for the amount of vehicles that showed up. After talking to Cherokee (the show promoter), we got in.
The first thing we did was find the IV Ever Low crew. We had talked to them in the chatroom before we left and they were good enough to make us feel right at home in there campsite. They had there “run truck” complete with swimming pool in the bed, ready to go. These guys had to have been some of the craziest there. Complete with 8-10 can beer bong with shut off valve and keg. Needless to say, they were ready to party.
After the normal eavening activities (drinking a ton of beer… DUH), several of the IV Ever Low crew passed out. Christy was gone first (Virgin runner drank too much haha). She’s never going to live that one down.
The next morning, we woke up, had some breakfast, and then ran to the show to snap some shots of the show. I was amazed at the quality I saw. A ton of VERY nice rides scattered about the park. We ran into some guys from NC (Negative Camber) and chatted with them for a few seconds, then went back to camp. Next was the “adult” games that they put on including several risqué displays of talent (don’t ask). The games were a good idea and IV Ever Low made them fun.
Next came the notorious Bikini/Boxer Contest. Needless to say, I WAS going to get a front row seat to this one, so I whipped out the SSM business card and got right up in front of security. In the beginning, the delay in getting started was annoying the crowd but once it began, all you could hear was the roar of the crowd. I was snapping photos as fast as the digital could handle. The bad part was I missed the 2 T & A shot that I wished I could show you. But hey, you win some and you loose some.
All in all, this show was very good and very well put together. With the demise of the other West Coast 3 day runs, it stood out as a good one. I as well as many others will definitely be at the next one.
