Next, tack weld the frame support and door brace bars in place. Now is a good time to throw your seats back in to double check that the doors will close properly, etc…

After you have checked everything and it is all placed and tacked where you want it, weld up all of the intersections. Be sure to weld all the way around the bars as it will not pass tech inspection at the track if you don't. It is also recommended that you do NOT grind the welds at all. This shows the tech inspector the quality of the welds and in many cases make for a stronger weld. Here you can see some photos of the completed cage. Soon we will be ripping the interior back out to paint the cage (That tech article will be in an upcoming issue of Import Street Source). Still to this day, the roll cage is one of my favorite modifications we have done to the car so far. The car handles much better and feels far more safe (not to mention looks a lot better). The cage was originally intended to go into the car AFTER the turbo is installed but we have been waiting over 7 months for the turbo kit to arrive from ITSTurbo.net. When they get it to us we will show you how it is installed as well! You can keep an eye on Project Z at http://www.streetsourcemag.com/projectz/
